The Gossen Digisix 2 is a lightweight, incident and reflected exposure meter for ambient light with a very small form factor and a myriad of features that will virtually assure it a place in your camera bag. This meter utilizes incident light measurement with integrated contrast measurement to indicate whether or not subject contrast, the difference between the brightest and darkest part of the subject, can be managed by the sensor or the film.

Since there's no power button, and the meter is permanently draining the battery, is it a good idea or a bad idea to continually remove the battery when the meter is not in use?
The battery inside the Gossen Digisix 2 Ambient Light Meter uses very little power, so it is not imperative to remove the battery from the meter. However, if it eases your concern, if you will not be using the meter for more 3-6 months or longer and you have a safe space to store the battery, then you may remove the battery for your convenience.

Are there any differences between this Digisix 2 and the older Gossen Digisix?
There are not any major differences, they basically upgraded the first a bit. From Gossen: This meter expands the measuring functions of manually adjustable cameras to include incident light measurement, by means of which better exposure can be achieved for unusual subject contrast. Integrated contrast measurement also indicates whether or not subject contrast, i.e. the difference between the brightest and darkest part of the subject, can be managed by the sensor or the film .
