The Fusion DX400RAID Rack Mount SATA Storage System from Sonnet helps you achieve high performance and data protection when you stripe data from multiple drives. It delivers speed, reliability and versatility in easy-to-deploy packages. It features a high-performance internal RAID controller that manages the enclosed drives. It also supports RAID 5 drive formatting, which provides data protection in case of a drive failure. This Fusion storage system incorporates an informative display and status LEDs with simple-to-use controls that enable you to easily configure the drives or select the information to be displayed.

When connected to a Sonnet Tempo SATA Pro 6Gb 4-port or Tempo SATA Pro 6Gb PCIe 2.0 2-port host controller installed in a Mac or Windows computer, the drives can be accessed at speeds exceeding 220 MB/s. With its drives configured as a RAID 5 group (4 drives striped with parity across all group members), the storage system achieves data throughput of 240 MB/s read and 220 MB/s write. In addition, up to 4 DX400RAID rack mount SATA storage systems can be connected on a single Tempo SATA Pro 6Gb 4-port controller for enhanced data throughput and multiple times the available streams.

In addition to RAID 0 and RAID 5, it supports RAID 10, Span and Clone drive formatting. With RAID 10, 2 drives are combined into a single volume, while the remaining 2 drives mirror the data on the first 2, providing high performance and better file security. Span formatting combines all 4 drives capacity into a single and large volume. Clone formatting provides higher security by mirroring data from 1 drive on the other 3. This storage system also provides a JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks) formatting option when you connect it to an eSATA controller that supports port multipliers.

The DX400RAID Rack Mount SATA Storage System requires just a single locking eSATA data cable to connect the enclosure to a SATA host controller card. This efficient interface simplifies setup and reduces cable clutter while offering a significant improvement in data throughput speeds when compared with FireWire 800/400 and USB 2.0 interfaces. Three low-noise fans make it suitable for use in noise-sensitive environments.

This storage system employs Sonnet-certified desktop drives that have been selected for their superior performance, error handling and reliability characteristics, especially when used in RAID groups. These drives are subjected to hours of additional, stringent testing to check for soft errors, vibration and other reliability predictors.
