I'm sure it's not the best mic in the world for use on Audience mics... But for a cover band, it adds a LOT to hear the audience in your in ears. Can't beat the price either.

Good mic

question

Vidpro XM-88 can pick up the sound of small group of choir (10 to 20 people) in small church? Should I use two XM-88 for picking up short and long distance choir?
Asked by: Chun Man
For most show choirs up to 24 voices we typically set up two shotgun microphones about 6 feet in from the edge of the choir on a 24 to 30 ft stage and 4 ft in front. We set the mic height at 7 ft to 8 ft angled in slightly from the sides to capture half the singers with each mic.Position two mics equidistant from the choir placements. Experiment with the distance from the choir and the separation of the mics in relation to each other.

Which one is the best? This or Rode VideoMicro?

Which one is the best? This or Rode VideoMicro?
Asked by: Sylas
The XM-88 is a more versatile mic, in that it has both cardioid and super cardioid pick up patterns, so you will be able to be a bit farther from your subject than the VideoMicro. It also takes a battery to power it, so it can be used with pretty much any camera that has a mic input, while the VideoMicro does not and it relies on the camera's plugin power.
