Panasonic DMW-FL360L Reviews

Compact but powerful

It pairs perfectly with my Lumix DC-G9 in TTL mode. Small but puts out a lot of light. Built-in diffuser and bounce panel eliminate the need for any accessories. Back panel cluttered but fairly easy to use. Tilting and rotating flash head make getting the amount and direction of light easy. Also does a great job of fill flash when outdoors.

On the day I was scheduled to shoot a wedding, this flash stopped working, creating a serious dilemma for reception photos! It was purchased 13 months prior. Not a durable flash!

Decent for M4/3 a Little Underpowered

It's okay. A bit spendy for the power offered, but it works and it's pretty small. No HSS or none line of site wireless options. At this point in time you think Panasonic would come up with something to compete with the Canon and Nikon Flash offerings. M43 is way behind on flash.

I would buy this product again.

Great flash. All the power and features I need for the vast majority of my flash uses. Communicates well with my 4/3rd format camera (Both on and off the camera).

I bought this flash and used it a few times. During one use, it lightly bumped into my Canon camera and flash...and the Panasonic flash snapped right at the base. Looking at the pieces that broke, it was clear to see that the design of this flash is defective. The plastic is way too thin at the base. Once batteries are installed in the flash, the weight of the flash is greater than the base can withstand. I sent the broken flash to Panasonic NA CEO, Joseph Taylor. Today I received a call from someone at Panasonic named Meghan. She said the flash design was not defective, that they've never received any complaints about it...and that they would not refund my money. So...my advice is to steer clear of this unit. And Panasonic's response also makes me wary of buying any other Panasonic gear.

How Do You Start?

I have the Panasonic FL360L flash unit and a Lumix FZ1000 camera. Both are basically new and both purchased at B&H Photo. I am new to flash photography. I just want to set things up so the flash is driven by the camera. That is, set it up so the parameters of the flash unit are communicated to it from the lense of the FZ1000, as I understand TTL Auto mode provides. To get started, which mode do I put the flash in? Which mode do I put the camera flash menu items in? I've read both manuals, experimented for hours, and I still don't seem to be able to get the flash unit in TTL A mode, which appears to be what I want. Can anybody help? Call me stupid but all I want is the most basic simple connection between the flash and the camera. Why does it seem to be so puzzling?

Packs a Wallop

This is the first external flash I have purchased for quite some time. However, it does the job very well. I found it somewhat intimidating to figure out how to get it to work with my new Lumix FZ1000. Being an old f8 at 1/60th photog, these new gadgets can take some adjustment, but if you can conquer your fear, and read the tiny print in the instruction manual, they work well. I would only recommend a really simple instruction manual, either for the flash unit or the FZ-1000.

A Canon TTL cable will work to use the FL360L off camera. I had Canon DSLRs and found that the off camera flash cable is fully functional with both Panasonic and Olympus m4/3 cameras and flashes.
