This bag is amazing. I am able to carry everything I need and it is easily accessible. I would buy it again, good money spent.

Great for Carrying Extra Stuff on a Plane

I have been wishing for something like this for years. The Chestvest allows one to carry extra things on an airplane without taking up the under seat space or the overhead bin. For a recent trip, it was home to 2 sets of Rode Lavalier microphones, an extra lens, spare batteries, an ND filter, two camera lights, business cards, passport, a fold-up white balance disc, memory cares, a 1 Tbyte solid disk drive, and more. This gave me more room in my backpack for other equipment. As importantly, when out in the field, all these things were easily accessible. No hunting through my backpack as they were right in front of me. And going through customs was a dream, as my passport and ticket were in my front pocket. Heck, I even had my sunglasses in a pocket. It appears like it is made to last. It is adjustable. I am 5'10 and 160 pounds and it fit well. When bending over, the straps would occasionally fall but I attribute that more to my slim build and that I didn't have them tightened as tight as they could be. Even when the straps fell, the pack remained around my waist. My raincoat fit around it, which provided extra protection (although it is well protected from the elements). This is a must-have for my kit and I highly recommend it to anyone who travels and needs to carry a lot of stuff and doesn't want to check it with the airlines. Finally, it provides a nice resting spot for one's hands when sitting on a long flight.

I'm looking for the best option for me (mens documentary chestvest or Mens Digital Chestvest). I always carry two bodies MIII and X1, 3 lenses 24-70, 70-200, 17-55. Im a photojournalist. Which one is the best for me?

I see there is not a documentary version for women. My question is how different is this one from the medium for women?
Asked by: Gabriela
The Newswear Women's Medium (Black) Chestvest pockets are larger than the Newswear Men's Documentary Chestvest (Black). The Men's is made for smaller DSLR cameras and the Womens is like the men's standard one and is for standard to pro dslr size cameras.

The Newswear Men's Documentary Chestvest is not modular; you can't remove some of the pockets.

question

Having migrated from large Nikon bodies and lenses to a Fuji Xe2 with 18-55, 55-200, 14mm,23mm,35mm,60mm I am wondering which Newswear would better fit my needs. I am looking at the documentary and the medium. Not having any experience with this product perhaps you can steer me in the right direction.I teach photography and find myself involved with all kinds of image making. Hiking, street photography, etc. Thanks,Elliot Stern

I think that the Newswear Mens Documentary Chestvest will be a better choice for your equipment, as the Medium size Chestvest is more accommodating for longer lenses rather than small primes such as those in your arsenal of equipment.

question

Am considering this bag for wildlife photography. Are the flaps held down by Velcro? Like the look of the product, but am concerned about noise.
Asked by: Richard T.
Yes. The flaps are held down with velcro and they open loudly. When I shoot wedding ceremonies, I keep the flaps open by folding them back and tucking them in between the pocket and my body. This works for eliminating the noise but opens up the lenses to the elements if you're outside.
