Newswear Large Fanny Pack Reviews
Endorsed By Working Photojournalists
If You Know, You Know. This Is A Fantastic Product For Working In The Field--I'm A Photojournalist And Primarily Shoot News, Where This Bag Excels, But Also Find It Very Useful For Event Photography When I Need To Stash A Flash. I Almost Exclusively Use This As A Sling Bag (and Virtually Never As A Waist Pack; Fully Loaded With Gear, It'll Sag Around The Waist) And Find It Very Convenient To Be Able To Swivel Over A Pouch Rather Than Dig In A Backpack. It's Compact, But Big Enough To Hold Essential Gear--the Main Pouch Is Big Enough For A Strobe Or A Telephoto Zoom (70-200 Or 100-400), And Narrowly Fits My Sony A9ii With 24-70mm F/2.8 V2 Attached (but It's Not Easy To Get It Out After.) The Smaller Pouches Will Easily Swallow A Prime Lens, A Mid-range Zoom, Snacks, Or A Water Bottle (it Might Be Sticking Out A Bit.) The Straps Are Also Thin Enough That You Can Wear A Backpack Over This While Wearing It As A Chest Sling, Which Is Very Useful For Those Of Us Who Have To Lug Laptops In The Field When We Can't File From Camera. I've Occasionally Mounted Additional Pouches (trauma Kit, Tourniquet) Onto The Strap And Found It To Still Hold Up Well When Worn As A Sling. Build Quality Is Very Rugged, And When Empty, The Newswear Pack Rolls/folds Up Into A Compact Footprint And Doesn't Take Up Much Space In Your Luggage. I Really Don't Have Many Complaints About This Bag--maybe A Redesign Could Enlarge The Main Pouch To More Easily Fit A Full-frame Mirrorless Body With A Midrange Zoom Attached? As Is, That Compartment Should Be Just Fine With A Pancake Lens, Or Perhaps A APS-C Or Micro 4/3 Body With Lens Attached. I Know At Least Two Pulitzer-winning Photojournalists At A Major Wire Agency Who Swear By This Pack. I Got My Newswear Pack After Copying One Of Them. The Other Recently Replaced His After Many Years Of Service. Really Great Piece Of Kit.
Super Comfortable! Its Great!
Super comfortable and just great overall. I use it for holding extra batteries, an XLR cable, some clamps and mounts, cleaning supplies, and whatever else I may need on a shoot. Its comfortable for long periods and doesn’t cause stress on my shoulders. Lots of space! I love it!
