    Sony ICD-UX533 reviews

ICD-UX533 Digital Flash Voice Recorder (Black) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Recorder I purchased this recorder to augment meeting notes taken by hand. I've had a chance to use it a few times already and I'm very impressed with it's ability to pick up even the most soft spoken voice levels in large conference rooms. It truly is impressive. The critical key in realizing its ability is to use the included earbuds for play back. The built in speaker is barely fact I almost considered docking my rating by a star because of it, but I think Sony's intention is to use the earbuds given they are included. It would also be easy to link it up to an external speaker. I also really like that it's rechargeable, but utilizes a standard AAA battery configuration for emergencies. For the money I think it's a great buy. As usual, smooth as silk transaction and fast shipping from B&H.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small Wonder I have been using the Sony UX 533 to record live events and audio from television. This little recorder has worked well for me. I was suprised at how well it picked up the speaker's voice amid other voices and distractions. The sound playback through the unit's speaker betrays the natural sound when using ear buds, headphones or playback after downloading the file to a computer. Others have complained about the onboard sound, I don't know what they expected from a sub 1/2 speaker. I guess Sony could have put a better sound system in this unit at the neglect of recording, but then it is a great recorder and not a $$iPhone. The menu system could be more user friendly, but easy enough if you use the online documentation. The supplied software is PC only. :( Wake up Sony!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Recorder Great quality, especially noise filtering. Preset settings. Great battery life. Compact and intuitive. Clear screen and instructions. I use it to record lectures - directly and via direct cable connection. Excellent quality. Even in difficult situations the quality is better than expected. You can monitor the recording as it is happening using headphones. Taking full advantage of the features requires investing some time to learn about them, unless you are already familiar with the concepts from other equipment. Built-in speaker -very convenient but not great quality - as expected for its size.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Still looking for a better screen and speaker in a recorder. Use the recorder to record meetings and notes. Nice size, has USB connector and good sound quality, but only if you use a different play back sound system other than the recorder's speaker which is way to weak as compared to other recorders that I use. The font on the menu screen is also way to small for the information that I deem most important and needed quickly (Folders and Files) and is intermixed with all the other information.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product for Voice/Singing I am using this recorder for my voice lesson and practice and to record performances. The sound quality is excellent and true to my singing and speaking voice; it is crisp and clear. The device is easy to use, and transferring files to my PC is quick and easy. The MP3 format makes transfer to my iPod seamless. I have no complaints at all.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not quite what I expected My comments should be taken as being from someone that knows next to nothing about these type of recorders. I bought this recorder to use when interviewing people about genealogy. I wish that I would have been more observant about the size of this recorder, maybe I would have realized that it had to have a very small speaker. I am very disappointed by the sound quality. I own other Sony products and have always been pleased with them. Other than the sound quality it seems pretty well made and has a lot of features. I am recommending this item for everything but the sound quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product/Tool This is a good recorder. I still have to figure out how best to use the file system. The instructions are not clear on that. The recorder is compact and light and excellant sound quality. I use it for lectures and meetings. It don't come with a carrying case. I don't remember seeing any tech-support that is provided. I would recommend this product to others.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great Does everything I need it to and is the perfect small size. LPCM recording is a major plus and the extra SD card allows for plenty of record time for any shoot.
