Will a Kirk L bracket fit on this tripod?

Will a Kirk L bracket fit on this tripod?
Asked by: Ernie
Yes, that is possible. Many of the Kirk L-Brackets, such as B&H # KIBLZ, offer an Arca Type Dovetail Connection. The head on this tripod has an Arca Style Clamp. Just as long as the L-Bracket has a Arca Connection it should work.

question

Can you shoot a vertical shot by locking the tripod? Will it stay locked and allow you to shoot vertically?
Asked by: Vinit M.
Yes. I have historically had problems with vertical shots when the camera is tilted to the left (shutter release button at the top) because the weight of the camera tends to slip/sag down and loosen the tripod locking screw where it screws into the camera baseplate. I use a Nikon D810 and manual lenses which may not be as heavy as a 70-200 f/2.8, but it was still a bit of a challenge to lock it tight enough to keep the camera from sagging. By the way, the problem I've had has not been with the tripod itself, but with the connection at the camera baseplate. The Arca Swiss type plate that comes with this tripod has a rubber surface that mates well with the rubber baseplate on my camera. This has stopped the slippage I've experienced in the past. Also, the head that comes with this tripod is the best one I've ever used, as it's small, but locks extremely well. If you like to shoot manually from a tripod (move the camera freely as if it's totally handheld), but have can't get clear shots at slower shutter speeds due to your shakiness, this is THE tripod head for you. Because it's connected to the tripod, it eliminates almost all of the unsteadiness I experience without the tripod, but you still have free movement of the camera in your hands. There is a separate adjustment knob that creates a subtle drag as you move the camera that has given me a fantastic amount of freedom in my handheld shooting technique, and I'm still get tack sharp images. This is separate from the locking knob which really locks that ball. So far, this has been the answer to years of frustration with other tripods I've owned and used, but I still intend to try to find another Arca Swiss anti-twist plate just in case. As far as the tripod legs are concerned, I REALLY love them. Easy to adjust with fingertip pressure on the rubberized twist rings, and very solid locking action that you don't have to grunt to loosen. Very fast to operate in any configuration; upright, splayed, and flat on the ground (using the optional short post. I thought I'd HAVE to buy the short post because my initial thoughts before receiving and experimenting with the tripod (I did buy it) because it appears that the supplied center post is too long to be of use at low level. What I learned after receiving it was that the length of the supplied post is perfect if you extend the top leg section while the legs are splayed. This gets you pretty low while giving you a lot of vertical movement potential. I find this to be a perfect height for shooting portraits from a sitting position. Extremely stable in this configuration, and an absolute joy to use and manipulate the tripod with the camera attached. I own Gitzo, Manfrotto, Leitz, Nikon, Velbon, and Vortex tripods, and this one is my dream come true. I don't carry a camera without it.

question

Is this compatible with the Peak Design standard plate? The standard plate comes with the Peak Design Slide, which I use.
Asked by: Mike F.
It Does. It is the same wide and clamps in firmly. It is shorted and does not extend end to end so it may not support a very heavy rig at a 90 degree angle. But it does work perfectly for my nikon D800 with lend and battery grip.
