Canare CAXMXF6BRN overview

  • 1Description

The brown, 6' L-4E6S Star Quad XLRM to XLRF Microphone Cable from Canare is especially designed for handheld microphone applications in live sound, rehearsals and other situations. In addition to mic-level signals, the cable can also be used to carry line-level signals such as for connecting your mixer to power amps.

The L-4E6S Star Quad cable features a 4-conductor design that is engineered to substantially reduce vulnerability to electromagnetic and radio frequency interference when compared with 2-conductor cables. It uses 21 AWG copper wire which features cross-linked, flexible irradiated polyethylene insulation, which is designed to maintain maximum frequency response and to be more heat resistant than ordinary polyethylene. It also utilizes braided copper shielding which is designed for greater noise rejection and durability than spiral shielding.

The cable also includes cotton filler which is in place to help to cut down handling noise. This can be beneficial in handheld microphone applications in which the cable may be subject to a substantial amount of movement.

Cross-linked PE insulation for flexibility even at low temperatures

    Canare CAXMXF6BRN reviews

L-4E6S Star Quad XLRM to XLRF Microphone Cable - 6' (Brown) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hiss reduced significantly I had read that using a star quad type cable reduced noise. Wasnt sure if it was hype or not. I was using a SM7b mic for voice over work and had to crank the gain since its output is pretty low. Hiss was a problem. Switched to the Canare cable. Hiss was drastically reduced. Switched back to old cable to verify and hiss came back. My other mic cable was a good quality cable in excellent shape and barely used, but the Canare star quad was way quieter and I could easily hear the difference in my studio monitors. For live work I use regular cables sometimes, but for anything in a studio environment, I only use star quad now. On stage I set up and tear down at least 5 times a week. The canare has held up better than my other cables. It seems to have a tendency to twist a little easier when coiling even though I do a forward and reverse technique while coiling. I still regard it as worth it though for longevity and reduced noise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the color coding Sam Mallery who makes a lot of technical videos for B&H recommended these videos at his blog (what to get for an audio professional). The manufacture seems top notch and I love the ability to match mics to my mixer using color coded cables. And hey, who doesn't like a little color. Ask me in five years how durable they are, but the specs are top notch and the components name brand. I'd rather not worry about my cables on a shoot. I love the variety of lengths available. Short of soldering my own cables, this is the way to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the money... Was looking for an affordable cable that came in any other color than standard black and these fit the bill beautifully. Having multiple colors makes set up, tear down and trouble shooting that much easier due to quickly being able to identify the cable sources by color instead of having to trace it back to the connection point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Skeptic to Believer with quality cables I didn't believe the hype either until I replaced my good cables with Canare. First, they are just supple and second, the quality of the sound did improve in the opinion of several of us. I can't imagine anyting else for serious audio work.
