The 59.1" Calibrated Counterbalanced Column from Kaiser is a wide, vibration-resistant copy stand column for mounting and fastening a camera arm. The height of the column is adjusted manually via a friction gear mechanism with plastic bearings, and the desired height is held in place with a locking screw. A built-in roller spring compensates weight for easy adjustments.

We have a number of different size Kaiser R1 columns and baseboards in the Archive. As long as it is designed for the R1 system, it interchanges. This XL column is used to digitize newspapers, posters, etc. You probably will need a step stool / ladder to adjust the camera, unless your setup is on a very low table. Quality is excellent throughout the various size options. I'm very happy with it, although Kaiser prices have skyrocketed over the last few years.
It ought to be solid given its price, and it is. Very little vibration. Of course, one must wait for it to slow down, as is true of all big rigs in photography. DOES NOT COME WITH THE RA-1 CAMERA ARM. That's a necessary part. The traveler for raising and lowering is on it, but NOT the camera mounting point. Fits all Kaiser RS mounting blocks, such as the one on the RS-1 copy stand, so you can get more height on the old base if you want. Works really well. If you can spring for it, you won't be disappointed. It's not fiddly or tempermental. It just works.
