Hoya X72UV overview

  • 1Description

The Hoya 72mm Ultraviolet UV(0) Super Multi-Coated (S-HMC) Glass Haze Filter is a wise initial investment. It helps protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs.

Hoya's high transmission Super-Multi-Coating minimizes reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.

This outstanding filter offers revolutionary performance in light transmission and color balance. 12 layers of Super Multicoating are applied to the surfaces of the Skylight 1B and UV(0) models, which produces an average transmission of 99.7%.

Coupled with maximum surface precision, this allows increased resistance to flare and stunning images can be recorded at wide apertures without compromising the performance of your lenses.

If desired it can be left on the lens at all times for protection
Haze filters provide additional benefits of correction for Ultraviolet(UV) light which can register on film and videotape as a bluish cast and can obscure distant details
Ultraviolet filters allow you to correct for the UV effect to varying degrees

    Hoya X72UV reviews

    72mm Ultraviolet UV(0) Super Multi-Coated (S-HMC) Glass Haze Filter is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 59.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great filter but hard to clean I've used this filter for a number of years now. I had to buy one again recently when I dropped my camera and it broke (luckily no other damage). It is far superior to the HMC model which I also own. The lens I have the HMC on often has ghosting at night. The super is worth it. It has an amazing light transparency rate and is almost invisible. The only down side is that the coating makes it is very hard to clean finger prints off. I haven't found a good solution yet but I'm sure there is one out there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top rated and delivers I spent extra coin on this filter to go with my Canon 15-85 IS USM. I really took the lead from some detailed reviews I read. Unquestionably, the best UV filter I've ever purchased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved my lens at the beach I couldn't tell any difference in image quality but it saved my lens from getting sandy at the beach.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this coating Just purchased the new 50mm zeiss lens and was a little leery of putting glass in front of it, I just took a picture shooting right into the sun with absolutely no flare and crystal clear quality. Cleans very easy compared to others that I have, what a great investment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good filter for protecting your lens I am sure there are much better filters out there, but when using the Hoya S-HMC filters, I don't notice any degradation in image quality on my Canon 'L' Lenses. I own several of this type and have been very pleased with the results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best The glass lets through something like 99.7% of light. It is simply the best for the money. The multi coating are a little hard to clean. Unlike regular glass stuff doesn't simply wipe off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps a sharp lens sharp I bought a 135 F2 Canon lens, and did not want a low quality filter to impare the lens IQ. This one fits the bill nicely.
