Hoya S-77STAR6-GB overview

  • 1Description

Hoya Cross Screen filters have a surface that is etched with a fine grid pattern. Depending on the pattern, point light sources and reflections create multi-beam stars.

Hoya's Star 6 Cross Screen is designed so that a 6-point star is created from point light sources and reflections.

Hoya S-77STAR6-GB reviews

77mm (6 Point) Star Effect Glass Filter is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Bad Considering this is my first star effect filter, it does a decent job. Now I don't know if it's just the strength of the light that causes some breaks in the star effect streaks or legs or whatever you want to call it, but with stronger lights you shoot, it tends to disappear. Could be my lack of knowledge of using star effect filters since I typically do it in post before. I figured this would save me the time in post.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job. Make what it has to do. Not to over use. Reduce sharpness and contrast in some cases.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK I only used it once so far to take pictures of the Baltimore Harbor at night. It seems to work well from a distance, but if the lights are too close or too large, you get a rainbow effect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really good tool in evening conditions Live in Australia but purchased from the US because I could not find this 77mm filter here. Most outlets advised me to use photographic software instead, but I wanted the physical filter. I considered the 4 point and 8 point as options but thought the 4 was limited and the 8 too busy. My choice has turned out to be perfect giving those evening shots with pinpoint lighting extra character and flare for a very small outlay. Delighted with the results.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 6 points is enough I think the 6 point filter is the best value. More points may look a little better, but cost a lot more. As an intermediate photographer, 6 points is enough!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lens Star effect is just enough for my needs. Works in day light as well and adds some sort of diffusion effect to the shot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality It's great for outdoor night pictures with lots of lights. The star burst effect will add some flare to your pictures.
