I take responsibility and I've done this before but beware: displayport at computer end to HDMI at the monitor. It will not work in reverse.
Decent product, worth the price

I have a new (refurbished) notebook with a DP instead of an HDMI connector. It works, and this plug is slightly more convenient than the SIIG short cable adapter I have, mainly because this one has no lock tab that makes it nearly impossible to remove. However, neither one seems to give my notebook support for HDMI audio, which makes it relatively useless for connecting a large screen HDMI TV for movies. Oh well.
