question
Can this be used to connect my mp3 player 3.5 mm headphone to my car stereo?
I have not actually tried what you are asking, however, I don't see any way that it could. This unit is a sound card designed to plug in to a USB port on a computer and convert a digital audio signal to an analog signal capable of feed headphones. The USB port on your car stereo is designed to read digital data stored on a thumb drive. MP3 files, wav files, etc. are binary code that can be read by the D/A converter in your car stereo. Your MP3 player's headphone jack simply outputs analog audio that can be listened to through a transducer like headphones or earbuds. B&H Photo does sell a piece of equipment that is designed to do what you're asking. It is B&H part # SCFMTD3R and sells for $22.99.
