This is a Manfrotto Complete Deluxe Autopole Kit with 3 Expan Drives. It is a background support system that will allow raising and lowering up to 3 cored backgrounds without climbing a ladder. The Deluxe Auto Poles are held in place between a floor and ceiling as high as 12 feet 5 inches with a powerful spring lock. 3 Expan Drive Sets work with their plastic color coded drive chains. The Expan Drives are held by the background hook set, which is clamped to the Auto Poles.

Is it acceptable to store coardboard core seamless horizontally in this long term or will it eventually bend, causing wrinkles?
Yes, over time the paper core will warp if you do not put a bar into the center. The Manfrotto 2961D Complete Deluxe Autopole-2 Expansion Kit is designed to hold the paper backgrounds for short-term storage. The background kit is really designed for when you need to photograph; short-term usage will not be an issue.

The Impact Drop Ceiling Adaptor, B&H # IMVPADCA, would work for your usage needs. As indicated on our website, the Impact Drop Ceiling Adaptor clamps scissor-like to an intersection of your drop ceiling support frame. Simply remove the Varipole's (or Autopole's) rubber top and the spring top adapter and insert the top of the Varipole into the adaptor's receiver. An Allen screw is included for additional tightening if necessary

This system with Alucore https://bhpho.to/390isl1 is a solid solution for mounting backgrounds and being able to save floor space. You have to be careful of roof height and type however.

Is it possible to use different seamless paper backdrop widths using 12 ft Alu-Core crossbars?
Yes. You can just get the Alucore inside the cardboard core of most seamless papers. The paper can be positioned in the middle of the 12" length. There's a good chance it will slip when you turn the alucore with the chain. Manfrotto used to put a strip of double stick tape down the length of the alucore. Don't know if they still do. This was to give the core some stick so that the background wouldn't slip.

I'm trying to figure out the difference between ...
I'm trying to figure out the difference between Deluxe and the Standard Black Kit. I have 8'8" ceilings and wish to hang at least two 6' wide painted canvas backdrops on them (which are heavier than seamless paper). Are the Deluxe autopoles more secure because it has 2 position-locking settings? It's hard to tell the difference as they do not explicity list identical feature types to compare them against to.
The major difference is that the Delux has a heavier duty locking mechanism with two position locking the second provides extra pressure for a firmer solid grip. Based on your heavier backgrounds, get the DELUX Autopole
