The black 2.5" SATA Hard Disk Drive Enclosure with USB and Wi-Fi from StarTech turns a 2.5" SATA hard drive into a portable storage device that can connect over Wi-Fi or USB 2.0. Once you install your drive inside, the enclosure will support 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and features an Ethernet port as well as a USB 2.0 port. Using its Ethernet port, you can establish a wired connection to your computer or to a router or modem. When connected to your computer via Ethernet, the drive can wirelessly connect to your Wi-Fi router and provide your computer with wireless Internet access. In addition, you will still be able to access the drive's contents.
When connected via Ethernet to your Wi-Fi modem or router, the enclosure and drive will act as an Access Point and connect to all Wi-Fi devices within range. These devices will be able to access the drive's contents and connect to the Internet. The USB 2.0 port on the enclosure allows you to connect the drive to your computer's USB port.
This enclosure allows you use a SATA 2.5" drive up to 1TB in capacity as a way to increase storage on your network and to share files simultaneously with multiple computers over FTP, SMB or a dedicated web interface. It comes with Ethernet and USB cables as well as a power adapter.
