Ideal for small to medium sized digital cameras without a battery grip, the Desmond DAL-1 QR L Plate allows you to change quickly from landscape to portrait mode while maintaining the camera's center of gravity on the tripod without adjusting your setup. The DAL-1 is sturdily constructed with four hex safety screws on the underside and a 1/4"-20 mounting screw. Note: the DAL-1 is not compatible with Really Right Stuff lever clamps.

Desmond DAL-1 QR L Plate is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Simple, solid value I wanted an L plate for portrait and macro work but was reluctant to spend the money for a custom plate. I purchased the DAL-1 QR plate to use with the Olympus OM-D E-M5. It fits the camera body alone and with the landscape part of the HLD-6 grip attached. In both cases, the multi-connector remains accessible for a cable or remote shutter release. The DAL-1 plate does not work as well with the battery/portrait part of the HLD6 where it must be attached to the right side of the camera and covers the dials and shutter button on the grip. That is not a serious problem since I do not leave the L bracket on the camera when not using a tripod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent producdt Does what it is supposed to do: fits well on my D7100, although I did add a thin piece of rubber so there is absolutely no rotation, meshes easily onto my tripod head (Sirui), has a 1/4 female thread on bottom so I can use it on a non-QR head, the bottom shape mates with the anti slip peg on the head so the camera will not slip off if I forget to tighten the lock, and costs about 1/3 of the name brand L plates. Cannot imagine a tripod plate doing more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made, functional and good value I wanted an Arca compatible L-Plate to fit both my Olympus PEN EPL5 and my Panasonic Lumix GH3. This plate is well made and it fills that requirement nicely. Both of the above cameras have adjustable screens that are, unlike many larger cameras, flush with the bottom edge of the camera body. Because of this, a plate with a lip on the back edge to prevent rotation will interfere with the screen operation. I explored mounting the L-plate reversed (with the lip in the front) but it became clear that neither of these cameras is realistically compatible with a lipped plate. That left the Desmond plate, the Giottos plate or a Sunwayfoto plate (with the lip piece removed) to choose from. In the end I chose the Desmond plate because it is the smallest (the Giottos is considerably bulkier and I have not found their anti-rotation tabs to be very effective), I have had good experience with Desmond plates in the past, and it was considerably less expensive than the other two. I am very pleased with this choice. Because I do not leave the L-plate attached most of the time I replaced the 1/4-20 tripod screw, which has an allen head, with one that does not require a wrench. Getting the plate on and off is now easy and it does not interfere with the remote control port on either camera. The only drawback to this plate is that it does not prevent camera rotation but I have not found a design that does. This a relatively minor concern especially since I use these cameras handheld most of the time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent bracket for small m43 cameras This L-bracket is one of the few universal brackets that I know of that can accomodate a small m43 camera like the Panasonic GM5, even when the camera is mounted with a fat lens like the Panasonic 12-35 f2.8 or 20mm f1.7. The problem is that the diameter of these fat lenses protrudes below the bottom of the camera and prevents the use of many normal QR plates and most universal L-brackets. This Desmond bracket has the 3 slots, with the outer ones being very close to the edge of the bracket, making it possible to attach the bracket to the camera without the lens edge getting in the way. So far I have not had any trouble with the camera slipping or turning in the bracket once it is tightened, even in the vertical position. As usual with Desmond products, the build quality is very nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes I would recommend this item This little L bracket seems to work just fine on a smaller camera like my Sony A600 and A7. There are better brackets I'm sure, but for the price I think it's doing a good job. I just ordered a Sony external battery charger so I won't have to take the L bracket off each time I need to charge the battery.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap price but well built Why this doesn't sell for more is beyond me... I am using it on a Samsung NX500 and the only thing wrong with it is it's a little long for the bottom and I had to cut a small piece of the end so I could open the battery compartment. Nothing a hack saw and file couldn't handle.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Quality I got what I paid for. It is pretty cheap and doesn't tighten down well. I had to pad with some rubber beneath to keep from slipping and a washer beneath the screw head.
