The Cokin 72mm Extension Ring provides an increase in distance between the filter ring of a lens and a filter holder in order to accommodate retracting lens designs that are common on many zoom lenses. This ring is compatible with filter threads measuring 72mm in diameter and accepts filters, holders, or adapter rings that are also 72mm in diameter.

I bought the Tiffen 72mm Close-up Lens set, but needed to toss an ND on top of it for some shots. the Diopters are convex beyond the ring so in order to stack the ND onto the extension was needed. Does the job just as needed.
I needed this because the thread on one of my lenses is very worn out and it was really hard to quickly screw on an ND filter at a wedding when I'm pinched for time. I bought this and screwed it on at home really tight, so now it's a fresh new thread for me to screw filters on to.
