Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent upgrade These new head adapter are a large improvement over the older design, and are standard on all of Profoto's new Pro Heads. I bought a few to switch out the adapters in my Acute/D4 heads, and they seem to work just as well for these units. In comparison to the old Acute adaptors, these are much thicker metal and should prove to be much more durable. The older design was generally the first failure point on Acute heads, I had seen several give out when the threading on the locking knob stripped out from over-tightenning. This model also gives you a seperate angle for mounting the head on horrizontal arms, which should mitigate the need to tighten the head so much in the first place, and help decrease wear on the unit. Additionally, the locking knob is now captive, so it can't pop out when loosenned too far (which used to be very annoying). Finally, the surface of this adaptor that the head clamps down on is a rough surface instead of smooth as in the older design, which should further help with not having to over-tighten things. Plus $* is actually pretty cheap by Profoto standards.Overall these are much easier to use and add great deal of longevity to the mechanical functions of any profoto head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Greatly improved on the earlier design The new stand adapters are quite improved over the older designs. For a relatively small amount of money you can have a considerably improved mount onto a stand or boom. Given the value of Profoto heads I see this as an essential purchase if your original stand adapters are at all worn. The ability to see where the screw is connecting with the stand is of great benefit, especially if you have hex mount arms, and makes the whole process of mounting lights faster and more secure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly big improvement over the original Surprising improvement of a part you can easily take for granted -- more solid build than the original, with a very smooth screw knob that doesn't feel like it will strip, and crosshatching on the stem that gives the head a good grip on the adapter. Bought a couple to replace stripped knobs, but I think I'll buy more and put them on all my Profoto heads.
