From Manufacturer
The Privia PX-5S from Casio is an 88-key digital stage piano featuring a scaled hammer action keyboard that provides more resistance at the lower end of the keyboard, and lighter keys towards the top. Four dynamic layers of stereo piano samples are integrated with the company's proprietary Linear Morphing System, resulting in a grand piano sound with seamless transitions and excellent dynamic range.
Simulated ebony and ivory keys provide an authentic touch, that when combined with the AiR sound source, provide a touch-to-sound connection that is matched only by a real grand piano. Adding to the sense of realism, Acoustic Resonance DSP simulates the sound of the open strings when the dampers are raised by the pedal. However, the instrument is not simply about a great piano sound. Other sounds include a classic electric piano, harpsichord and clav sounds, as well as string and other synthesized patches.
A wide variety of effects can be applied, at the system level, as insert effects, or on the master bus. An eight-track sequencer can hold up to 1,000 phrases, and four, sixteen-step arpeggiators can be set up independently. Further, the instrument can function as a comprehensive controller, with up to four zones available. Each zone can define how the instrument's various control elements function (knobs, sliders, etc.), and MIDI output can be via USB or the dedicated MIDI connectors. With the addition of Apple's optional Camera Connection Kit (sold separately), control of an iPad is also possible.
