A Handheld Condenser Mic Optimized for Live Performance
The matte black d:facto 4018V from DPA is a professional microphone designed to deliver outstanding audio quality for live vocals in a wide range of performing environments, including live stages, theaters, houses of worship, and more. The mic sports a three-stage pop protection grid to remove vocal pops and plosives, while the built-in shockmount helps to reduce handling noise. The removable handle is built with an XLR connector and the mic requires 48V phantom power. As an added benefit, the modular design allows you to remove the d:facto 4018V capsule from the DPA handle and (with a separately available adapter) use it with many popular wireless systems from manufacturers including Sony, Lectrosonics, Shure, Wisycom, and Sennheiser.
Features +3 dB Soft Boost at 12 kHz
- DPA manufactures two versions of the 4018 vocal microphone; this is the soft-boost version, designed to add presence. A second version of the 4018 is available with a more linear response for engineers who prefer custom processing.
- The pre-polarized condenser capsule in this version of the 4018V delivers a linear 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response with a +3 dB soft boost at 12 kHz for added presence that helps vocals cut through the mix, even when played through poor-quality speakers—often the case for broadcast and TV productions.
- The mic provides a unique supercardioid polar pattern with a somewhat wider acceptance angle that's forgiving for vocalists while still rejecting sound from the rear and sides.
- With a minimum of 9 dB attenuation on the sides, the 4018V helps to reduce bleed and keep feedback issues under control.
- The 4018V offers a natural sound, high separation from nearby sound sources, and SPL handling up to 160 dB.
