    BH16NS40 Blu-ray Disc Rewriter is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works I've had the drive and not had the opportunity to test the blu ray however DVDs work. The software it comes with is outdated by 3 versions. It is best to have the most recent software to watch content because it makes full use of the hardware upgrade over other less expensive models. I will update my review after testing the blu ray, hopefully soon. The drive appears to be fast but I have not written any data to disk or done any benchmarks to test the actual speed. I did notice a large increase in noise when first reading the disk but after that it gets quiet. Any buyer be ware that a hdcp certified monitor/tv is required in addition to gpu and strong processor. I'd sure anyone who would pay close to $ for a blu ray player would know this, but for people who didn't there you go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great, has Cyberlink 10 Media The drive works great, compatible with newest Blueray discs (with on line upgrades, you can choose to upgrade 10, not buy 14 if you want). (As of 12/2014) The disc spins up very fast during installs, but otherwise quiet. I installed this into a new built computer and the drive was recognized without software to load motherboard data, etc. The software that came with it is an older version, Cyberlink Media Suite 10, not 12(or Power DVD 14) as the popups are constantly reminding you. Cyberlink is nice for the price (free), but annoying with it's constant reminder popups letting you know there's a new version. Installation was a breeze the first time, but then I wanted to change it to another drive. (My fault for not doing this to begin with and manually trying to change it just made it worse.) Not so friendly with a re-install and again, all my fault. But I got through it and watched some media. No glitches and even was tolerant of a very scratched up old DVD I had.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blue ray disc rewriter This is the best blu Ray disc rewriter on the market. The movie I play so far are very clear and crisp. No jitters at all. I will buy this unit sometime in the near future for another pc that I planning to build.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I will not buy a product from this manufacturer again. This appears to be the retail version of the super terrible WH16NS40 drive of which I had _two_ that did not work. They would overheat after a couple of burns and stop reading disks altogether. After a cool down, they would start working again (sort of). The _REAL_ BH16NS40 is a different drive and it looks different. It is bulletproof. The front tray has only the LG logo on it. The MDisc and Bluray logos are on the drive. You can see this on the LG website. I don't fault B&H here. Two other online retailers and a brick&mortar show a picture of the real drive and ship you the one I got. All of them have been taken (?) by LG. Since LG has elected to be completely dishonest about this (no surprise there), I will not buy any of their products anymore.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy upgrade to Blu-ray I wanted to add an extra DVD and add Blu-ray capability to my HP Pavilion Elite desktop computer. The LG was priced well and I have several other LG products at home and like them a great deal. Installation was far easier then expected. Removing side and front covers was the matter of one thump screw and the case was open. Remove the disposable covering plate on the secondary DVD space and the LG simply slid into the slot. HP uses a pin system that secures the DVD so I didn't even need the included screws. The provided extensions for power and SATA data cable hooked up easily and quickly. Closed up the case, installed the included Cyberlink software and I was watching a Blu-ray disk within seconds. The drive has been in heavy use now for about a week and could not be happier. The B&H price was easily the best of all the stores I checked and all in all a great buy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worked for a little over a year! I bought this unit after my previous LG burner died. It was almost 7 years old. This unit, however, lasted just past the 1 year warranty. I will purchase ANOTHER BRAND since this one did not last, after ONLY moderate use.
