Sirui G10X overview

  • 1Description

The Sirui G-10X Ball Head is an extremely sturdy head with separate control knobs for pan, tilt, and tension, plus an Arca-style clamp for the included quick-release plate. The ball locks down extremely tightly thanks to the double-bevel locking system which allows support of cameras up to 39.6 lb and safe 90° tilting for portrait orientation. The quick-release clamp features a secondary release button that prevents any inadvertent disengagement of the camera/plate from the clamp, thereby adding to the head's overall security and stability.

Three separate controls (pan, tilt and lock) allow a photographer to exercise extremely fine control over the orientation of the camera, whether it's a DSLR, 35mm, medium-format camera, or even a camcorder. Pan, for instance, can be adjusted while the tilt stays locked, enabling precise movement that's measurable via degree markers for panoramic photography at the panning base.

The G-10X uses Computer Aided Manufacturing and an aircraft-grade aluminum alloy with a custom anodized surface treatment to ensure a durable, high-quality finish.

Precision Manufacturing
Sirui uses Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) to produce a support ball with tolerances within 0.01 mm of a perfect sphere. This uncompromising precision ensures superior performance and smooth operation for any type of 35 mm DLSR or medium format camera system
Superior Construction Material
Sirui ball heads are made of aviation quality aluminum alloy 7075-T6 and 6067-T6 for long life and maximum strength. Quick release plates are made from forged aluminum alloy. The forging technique produces high-density metals with much greater strength than die-cast methods. Optional model specific plates are available
The panning base is designed with a 360° dial. Having a separate panning base lock knob provides greater accuracy for panning and panoramic shooting
Secure Locking
The patented safety lock design, and Sirui quick release plates, effectively prevent the camera from accidentally sliding off of the ball head. Most Arca-style quick release plates can be used on Sirui ball heads
Durable Surface
The custom anodized surface treatment makes all metal surfaces highly resistant to abrasions and produces a beautiful appearance
High Load Capacity
Superior locking force allows support of loads up to 39.6 lb
Easy Leveling
Dual bubble levels allow precise horizontal leveling for critical shooting situations

    Sirui G10X reviews

G-10X Ball Head is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from bit on the heavy side but works flawlessly I got a carbon tripod and I was in a need for a small tripod head with ball bearing that will be as small as possible (I'm riding a motorcycle and need everything to be as compact as it can get). after 5 weeks in Norway tied down to the back of a motorcycle, rain, rain, rain, mud, dirt, sun, rain... When ever I need it to work, a few splashes of water cleaned the mechanism and it worked like a charm. Very high quality built and a very precise mechanism. thumbs up for this. and that little feature that it fits ALL my tripods mounts, this made me fall in love with this head. I would really recommend everyone who looks for a tripod head that will just do everything and still be cheap and durable, get this one. great piece of equipment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Compact Ball Head This was my first time shopping for a tripod and ball head, so after asking a B&H product rep for some advice, I ended up purchasing this ball head.On the plus side, it's easy to use. It's compact and fits in my tripod bag just fine.On the other hand, the control knobs take a little bit of time to get used to for remembering what it is that you're adjusting.I read that usually you leave the QR plate attached to your camera, but this plate is much too wide to leave on the Sony a6000. It would get in the way of the camera's tilting lcd screen and just be uncomfortable to shoot with, so for now I've left it off.Overall, I think I need to try out this ball head a bit more before giving my final verdict. It does feel solid, and comes with it's own padded bag which is nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One very strong ball head I recently purchased the Sirui-1204 Carbon Fiber Tripod due to the recommendations at B&H. I also bought at that time the Sirui K-10 ball head for the tripod but Sirui gives you a short extension for using very low angle and one of the legs from the tripod unscrews to become a very light weight monopod so I got the G-10X ball head because of its size. What a bargain. Locks down tight and very able to hold a Nikon D-7100 with Nikon 200mm f4 Macro on a Kirk Focus Rail with R1C1 kit attached. I am very impressed that at the low price for this ball head it even has a tension adjustment.I mostly use Manfrotto tripods because over the years they have never failed me even under the Bogen name. If you have to spend $ for a carbon fiber tripod with a famous name go ahead but investigate this line of first. I was very glad I listened to several of the reviewers at B&H.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Utterly Amazing Ballhead I have NO idea what others may or may not have said regarding this ballhead, but I have to say the one I received was astoundingly excellent. Not only is it manufactured with a quality I'm not used to seeing except for Gitzo, but it is superior in construction and feel to a Kirk BH-1 I had that cost me just shy of $400. This head is super smooth to operate. It feels like a $400+ head in regards to the touch it provides on the knobs and their accuracy. It provides a smooth butter like level of control even my $300+ Gitzo I got for my new Traveler Tripod doesn't quite match. It is super lightweight which to me is a huge plus, but is solid as a rock with NO play. The plate it comes with is equally perfect. Covers a larger area of the underside of the camera for better stability and doesn't mar the finish as it has textured rubber strategically placed. Sirui sure did outdo themselves on this one. I can't recommend this highly enough. Don't even think about it.... BUY IT!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A superior ball head! I purchased this ball head in November and returned it subsequently because the friction knob was completely frozen and would not budge. B&H Photo very quickly returned another Ball Head that functions perfectly. This is a very nicely designed ball head that is especially well suited for a lighter tripod and carrying in the field or around town. The quality of the manufacture of this ball head is extremely high and certainly shows a great amount of quality in its manufacture. I'm very satisfied and highly recommend this tripod head!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm super impressed with this head, very smooth and precise! I decided to look into a new ball head after trying to focus on the moon with my current tripod, rated at supporting 18 pounds. With a Nikon D90 and Nikon 18-200 lens (about 3.5 lbs), it was sagging and difficult to align focus. Using this Sirui ball head on the same tripod is like night and day! So very smooth and holds precisely where you want it, even as you tighten it. Bonus is the light weight that doesn't add much to your gear load. You can spend a lot more and not get a head of this caliber ... IMHO.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! Replaced my Manfrotto ball head with this one from Sirui and I couldn't be happier! Very smooth and locks tight. One of the few in this price range with tension control. Using it with my Fujifilm X-Pro 1 and 55-200mm lens and it holds it with no problem. I am sure it can hold far more weight than I will ever put on it. Would gladly buy it again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent ball head I have been using this ball head for the past 10 months with Oly OMD EM1 and had 0 issues. Very easy to use and it looks like it is going to last for long long time...
