The Photogenic ION Lithium-ion Pure Sine Wave Inverter System with Spare Battery allows you to take your studio strobes on the road or off the road without electricity and without noisy generators or bulky old-style inverters. Weighing in at only 3.5 lb including its battery, the ION measures only 7.5 x 4.4 x 3.3" but is able to deliver hundreds or even thousands of full power flashes depending on the flash head in use. For example, Photogenic's 1,000W/s PL1000DR gets 300 full power flashes on a fully charged battery while their AKC160 will get a whopping 2,050 flashes from the same battery. Photogenic doubles that capacity by including a spare battery but you can triple or quadruple your capacity by simply purchasing extra batteries which can be charged apart from the inverter. Extra chargers are available to charge more than 1 battery concurrently.

Convenience features include a USB port to power computers and other electronic devices and an LED "fuel gauge" that allows you to check on remaining power at a glance. The system includes the ION Inverter, battery, charger, light stand clamp and strap. A specially designed case is also included that can hold a complete ION Inverter Kit plus 2 spare batteries.

Note: flash capacity specs are based on Photogenic flash heads but other brands of flash heads may be used with the inverter. Power input is 100 to 265VAC, 50/60Hz but output is 120V only.

ION Lithium-ion Pure Sine Wave Inverter System with Spare Battery and Case is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I expected I bought this power pack because I got tired of being limited to power cords, duct tape, and AC outlets and worrying about someone tripping over the cord that wasn't safely duct taped. I knew the Photogenic Ion was advertised for monolights but I also wanted it for product shoots with LED, continuous lighting. Good news - It fire up my Elinchrom BRX 500 Monolight twins. And when needed, it also fires up my Genaray SpectoLED14. Trick is to be frugal when using the LED lights, as in power on while shooting, then power off after the shot. Carrying case is well built to accommodate the Inverter, two batteries and accessories. Great product, good investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powers Strobes & A Lot More Bought the Photogenic ION Lithium-ion inverter to power my two Photogenic 1000-watt second strobes as a pair. Dispitethe fact I had the modeling lights turned off, the load was too much for the inverter. However, with one strobe, it's just what I need. Not only do I power a strobe, I also use it to power anything that requires low wattage AC power, like wireless mic receivers or transmitters or battery operated audio recorders or small camcorders and small video monitors. The kit is especially useful since it includes a case, spare battery and charger. What a pleasure not to have to run AC extension cords! Great product. Highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Free At Last I just received my ION and will be using it this weekend for a wedding shoot. While I haven't had real world experience with it my testing in the studio has all been positive. The ability to throw a lot of light with my strobes vs. trying to bounce a speedlight off a cocktail napkin will open up a new world of possibilities. For some reason I find myself doing a lot of Golf Course weddings and being able to go cordless should be very helpful. The quality of the product is great. It recharged quickly and it doesn't weigh much so moving it around is a piece of cake. The only caution I'll throw out is that the bracket that attaches to your light stand may need some adjustment before you try and mount the battery. The screw that holds that bracket to the stand has a washer that I assume is intended to protect the light stand. There's a screw that holds it (the washer) to the bracket and mine wasn't screwed in fully. When I tightened that bracket to the light stand the screw head put a nice dent and scratch in the stand. Not the end of the world but slightly annoying. Other than that, all good and well worth the investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ION Lithium-ion Pure Sine Wave Inverter System with Spare Ba This is an awesome product and now I am free to use my strobes anywhere it is dry. I have taken over 150 flashes so far and the 14.8 volt battery is still showing over 15 volts on a volt meter. Very portable and easy to use. If you want the freedom to go on location with plenty of portable power this is the unit to buy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bring the studio outdoors I bought this item to shoot an outdoor wedding. I was able to use my studio flashes in a remote outdoor location with no electrical lines. I could attach the light weight battery pack to the flash stand which made the entire unit self-contained and easy to move.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powers 4 Monolights - Success! I received my battery yesterday and today I put it through some shooting. I was able to use two extension cords and plug in 4 monolights and fire them off on full power. The mono lights that I own are the Astral Extreme AS-X-400. It is able to power 2 lights on half power settings and recycle my lights in under 1/2 second. With four lights connected I am able to fire them at full power with a five second delay until ready to fire again. 2 light setup, full power with 2 second recycle time. Great power! I was more than impressed with it's abilities. Would highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I had my eye on this product since they introduced it and finally decided to buy it when I saw they had the kit with and extra battery, light stand mount and carry case. Very well designed and lightweight. I haven't used it on location yet but I intend to replace my Norman and Lumedyne battery units with the 3 AC Photogenic moonlights I also use. Better control of wattage and more light modifiers available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Power on the go I have been looking for compact transportable power and the Photogenic Ion hits the mark. It powers my Elinchrom 500 strobe. I purchased two ions for location photography.
