Spider Camera Holster Spider Monkey Accessory Holster Kit
Key Features
  • Spider Monkey Base
  • Holds Flash, Meter, Battery on Hip
  • Base Unit Clips to Belt
  • Fits Optional Spider Holster Belt
The Spider Monkey Accessory Holster Kit from Spider Camera Holster is a two-piece system that attaches to your belt and keeps a flash, light meter, battery pack, or other accessory on your hip. The small, durable, plastic resin base clip attaches to most belts measuring up to 2" in height, including the Spider belt, Lowepro's Street & Field series, and Think Tank's Steroid and Skin belts. Each of the two included tabs have a small disc-like protrusion that slides and locks into the base clip. The tabs have 3M adhesive on both sides for secure attachment to your accessory and the attached touch-fastener strip, which wraps around your device to ensure an extra-strong hold. To release, push your gear against the base and lift. This system provides a quick-draw method of retrieving gear since it eliminates the need to hunt through your bag for an item. Multiple Spider Monkey base units are available separately if you want to have various pieces of equipment within arm's reach.

Will this work for regular non Photo belts? Can you clip it to pants waistband if no belt (i.e. tux or dress pants?)
Asked by: Jeffery
I shoot real estate and put the clip on the pocket of my shorts. It works great and makes for very easy and fast access to a speedlight. But, the edges are a bit sharp and will cut the fabric after a lot of use. (I might try a little electrical tape on the sharp edges to protect my shorts.) No belt is required for my purposes and it works very well.

question

Will the clip fit properly on the ThinkTank Sterid belt?
Asked by: Alan
Thank you all!.. The Spider Monkey clip will fit the 2 webbing of the belt well (it will not pull off as it catches from the bottom). Thank you,S

question

Can you use a 1/4-20 screw through the hole in the middle of the tabs to attach to very small compact cameras?
Asked by: Ratish P.
Hi Ratish, Thank you for this relevant thinking.. Unfortunately the current hole clearance is much smaller then a 14/20, so not an option unless you modify/enlarge the hole yourself. Although there may be enough room (material wise) for diam. modification, you may end up with failure, depending on the weight/shape of the object and operating torque. We do have plans on revising the current tab overall shape to augment its applications, but still we may not be able to accommodate a 14/20 through (we did think of that as well BTW!..). Great minds think alike!BestS

question

I'd like to use this for a light meter that is wrapped in a leather case. How well do these stick to leather?
Asked by: Justin M.
Hi Justin,Thank you.. As you may know, leather comes in many variants (some not leather at all, some textured, some smooth) it would be impossible for us to vouch for this kind of connection.. The idea behind the Spider Monkey tabs is to attach directly to the object, (not it's case) and so to have a quick-action release and secure carry. We think that a light meter is a perfect product for the Spider Monkey Holster application?.. FYI - We will be releasing a Utility Pouch very soon (the tab is sewed onto the pouch) for quick release-and-attach via Spider Monkey - please register with us at spiderholster.com for updates! Many thanks ahead of time,Spider Holster Team

question

If you have a flash hanging off your belt or Spider Holster Pro and you crouch down and the flash presses against the top of your leg, will the clip come off your belt and the flash end up on the ground?
Asked by: Dean F.
After awhile the locking mechanism begins to deteriorate and the plastic will rub down, your flash will not be safe. I dropped mine because of this many times. I really wish they made the locking part out of metal
