- Improves the Sound of a Subwoofer
- Reduces Coloration and Muddy Resonance
- Provides More Clarity
- Extends Low-Frequency Response
The SubDude-II Subwoofer Isolation Platform from Auralex is designed to improve the sound of your sub by negating resonance artifacts. SubDude-II platforms feature a velour covering over an inert structural layer that floats on a cushion of Auralex Platfoam. They can be used in home theaters for hi-fi system subwoofers to reduce structural vibrations through walls, floors, and ceilings. This results in a cleaner and tighter bass, reduced coloration, and a more accurate low-frequency response.

If my neighbor started using this with their subwoofer, would it cut down on the noise I hear in my apartment?
The Auralex SubDude-II Subwoofer Isolation Platform can help decouple a subwoofer from the floor, so that the floor walls and furniture don't shake as much with low frequency sounds. This can help somewhat with roommates and neighbors, but it won't fully stop transmission of sound between rooms. To maintain happy relations with neighbors, there will still need to be some agreement about volume levels and times of day.
For a complete solution to isolate noise between apartments or rooms, Auralex does offer construction materials designed for that purpose, which we do carry at B&H. I would recommend consulting with an Auralex engineer at 317-842-2600 or [email protected] before buying any materials or beginning renovations.

Can the Auralex SubDude II be used as turntable isolation pad?
The Auralex SubDude-II Subwoofer Isolation Platform can be used as an isolation pad for a turntable, but it is not an ideal solution for this application. While the SubDude-II will support the turntable and effectively decouple it from the supporting furniture to prevent vibrations, the pad is thicker and slightly less rigid than what is typically used for a turntable, so it may cause the turntable to be unstable when you change records or press buttons. As a better option, use the Auralex ISO-Tone Turntable Isolation Platform (BH # AUISOTONE), which is designed specifically for use with turntables. It uses a thinner, more dense, and more rigid type of foam that will provide proper stability for your turntable.
