    Sony AKASF1 reviews

Skeleton Frame for Action Cam is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from New mount for Sony Action cam This mount allows camera to be attached to a tripod on the right or left side, as the 90 deg tripod piece snaps inside the window area of mount. One of the sides used will cover up display screen. Both left and right mounts leave bottom open for use of mic input or the other 2 connectors ( HDMI or USB cables) Yellow slider button on top secures both halves together very well. Also includes a snap on piece for bottom of case with tripod threads, but you cannot access bottom connectors when this is in place. Had to retro fit waterproof case for wireless microphone connection, before this one was available.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Improvement for summer use I bought this and the Drift Gopro mount to mount the Sony action camera to my MC helmet. It makes the action camera MUCH more low profile and allows you more mounting options. The clip on mounts will mount on the sides as well as the bottom of the frame. Only downside I have found is that if you want to use your external mic you will need to mount to the sides which will make the camera stick out a bit further from the helm.. and is not quite as protective as the Waterproof housing Overall its a useful tool and i'm glad Sony is listening and adding mounting options.. hope they keep making improvements.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fulfills a need, could be made better. One of the criticisms of the Sony Action Cam is the lack of mounting options. To their credit, Sony has aimed to fix this issue with this skeleton frame. The frame allows you to mount the camera to a mount having 1/4-20 threads (tripod, head, etc). The design of the skeleton frame also finally allows you to access the ext mic connector. Really though, the only issue is there is some rattle when you atttach the mount, which probably makes it inappropriate for any action use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! The skeleton frame is perfect with all the different positions it can be mounted. With a bit of work I was able to mount the frame and camera to the rear view mirror of our car so we can document our upcoming cross country road trip. It was about time that Sony came out with the correct accessory for the Action Cam.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Functional and versatile Works well with my Panavise mounts or any tripod to get a Sony Action Cam stable while allowing access to the microphone input. Nice too that the Skeleton Frame allows mounting in several positions without much fuss - just snap the mount around and carry on. The frame itself does feel a bit fragile, so I'll be curious to see how well it wears as hours of use accrue on the device. However, given the nominal price of it, not too worried if it does break as a replacement is not terribly expensive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Adds to mounting options Poor Sony: trying so hard, but just can't compete. This product helps get them closer to the versatility afforded to GoPro users. With this device the mounting options for the Sony action cameras is greatly improved. While it is very strong ABS plastic and the camera fits snug, it's a little under-whelming.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits the bill but..... The skeleton frame gives me access to the ports on the bottom of the action cam however I was expecting something a little more sturdier. That being said, the skeleton frame fits my AS15 very well and the mounting options are very convenient. Once the camera is in the frame, the mounts become stable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Excellent Device This is a great add-on especially for proper audio capture through the internal mic or if you're utilizing the external mic jack. Best uses are for any mounting other than the waterproof case. You can mount the camera right-side up or down, so no worrying about flipping your video in post editing.
