Giottos YTL 9314 overview

  • 1Description

The Giottos Pro Series 9314 Aluminum YTL Silk Road Tripod rises to a maximum height of 65.7" and weighs in at 5.1 lb while supporting up to 22 lb. But that's just the basics. It has a center column with a unique cantilevered design that allows it to tilt 180 degrees in its yoke and rotate 360 degrees. It also has a ballast hook at the bottom to add stabilizing weights. Thanks to the combination of the column and the 9314's three-position leg spreading feature, you're able to shoot as low as 7.9" from the ground. The three leg sections offer a padded first section and Quick Lever Locks for easy operation and optional spiked feet. The lowest leg has eight calibration marks at 2.0" intervals to make precise leveling easy.

Note: This listing is for tripod legs only. Your choice of tripod head is available for separate purchase. However, the included short column with patented AutoSafety Lock can be used for limited two-way control even when not using a head.

    Giottos YTL 9314 reviews

Pro Series 9314 Aluminum YTL Silk Road Tripod is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for the money! From the moment that I removed it from the box I was impressed with it's quality. I have been using a tripod from another mfg. and it wasn't stable, the center column did rise up and allow 180 degree use for macro (etc) but even without the head, it was flimsy. The Giotto's arm when extended for macro use is rock solid!!! This was exactly what I wanted in a tripod. Stability!!! I also want to mention that when the legs are extended to the max, it remains very stable. I am over 6' tall and it is taller than I am even without a head or extending the center column. Yes, I am impressed! Although it is a little heavier than the carbon fiber model, I don't consider it a burden to carry around.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Silk Road is Super Short center column great for light and fast set-up without a ball-head: Good! Second longer column does all the gymnastics advertised very well: Good! But only one column top-plate comes with unit so you must buy a second from Giottos Parts and two of the head screws are not captive: Bad! Overall use-experience is outstanding so four stars composite rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best option for the price for sure! Although I havent used it much yet, it was by far the best option for the max height that I was looking for. The build quality looks good. The clasps are pretty tight to work with quickly but this is pretty minor. Loving the scale on the legs to help level things quickly. The only thing thats missing is the metal spikes that are useful at times, but they are sold seperatly if you need them I guess.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy and multifunctional tripod Arrived in great time considering NY just had a snow storm. The tripod itself is exactly what I wanted. I was going for a Benro or used Gitzo Explorer but I didn't quite like the way the legs worked on either. Had to keep lifting the clip on the Benro when extending the legs and the Gitzo had an infinity type of function with no preset stops. I like quick and simple when it comes to tripods. I love the added function of the lateral center column. Look forward to using it for food and macro photography.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value and versital but weight rating is too high First of all for the price this is a nice little tripod, great for travel and macro work. I did return it though, because base on the rating of my Manfrotto tripod (which is less than this one) I thought this ought to work well. It was just to light for my needs. Manfrotto ratings are conservative, Giotts at least on this one is too high. But, if you are looking for a light inexpensive tripod this is a good value.
