The Decca Tree Set 2S from Schoeps has all the components you need to set up a Decca Tree array. The set consists of three matched CCM 2S Lg Compact Microphones, three KA 40 Sphere Attachments, and a common wooden box for storage.
The CCM 2S Lg is a small, light-weight microphone featuring an omnidirectional pattern. This microphone is particularly useful in two- and three-microphone stereo arrays, where its placement near the reverberation radius of the sound field presents a sonically balanced pickup. It exhibits a slight high-frequency emphasis for frontal sound incidence, with only a slight roll-off of high frequencies off-axis and in the reverberant sound field.
The 40mm diameter KA 40 Sphere Attachment, when used with the CCM 2S Lg omnidirectional microphone, creates the illusion of closer placement so that greater miking distances can be used while maintaining good focus in the sound. This in turn improves the blend and balance when recording orchestras or choruses.
The SCHOEPS CCM 2S Omni-Directional Compact Microphone with LEMO Disconnect has an omni-directional pattern. It is a miniature true classic condenser microphone (no electret used). The capsule and amplifier form an inseparable unit in a single housing. The microphone includes a K5 LU 16’ Detachable LEMO to XLR-3M Adapter Cable with 3mm diameter, SGC Stand, and wood box.
It has a slight high frequency emphasis for universal use. It is used for essentially suitable pickup of low-frequency information and room sound. If directivity is not required (e.g., close miking), the omni CCM 2S + windscreen W 5 or W 5 D will offer low sensitivity to wind, popping, and handling noise for outdoor recording. It is an all-purpose capsule for music and speech and also for use at moderate distance (at or near the reverberation radius).
The MK 2S Microphone Capsule exhibits a slight high-frequency emphasis for frontal sound incidence, with only a slight roll-off of high frequencies off-axis and in the reverberant sound field. The frequency response characteristic of the CCM 2S falls between that of the CCM 2 and the CCM 3 Micrphone, making this microphone suitable for a wide range of applications.
The CCM 2S is particularly useful in 2- and 3-microphone stereo arrays, where its placement near the reverberation radius of the sound field presents a sonically balanced pickup favored by many recording engineers. It has become a popular pressure transducer.
The included K 5 LU Cable is an adapter cable from the LEMO output connector of the CCM _L Compact Condenser Microphones to XLR-3M.
The included Miniature Stand Mount with Swivel SGC is adjustable from 0° through 100° in either direction. The internal thread of the SGC screws onto any 3/8” rod (e.g., vertical support rods STR) or stand adapter. The SGC is an integral part of the HC miniature cable hanger and the TCg table stand.
The 40mm KA 40 Sphere Attachments from Schoeps is designed for use with omnidirectional microphones. It can be used when capturing audio in various environments such as recording studios, live sound and more. It creates the illusion of closer microphone placement so that greater miking distances can be achieved.
The KA 40 is designed to capture more detail especially for orchestras or choruses. The effect is partly due to an increase in directivity, but mainly to the increased midrange response. The low-frequency response remains undiminished. Sold as a single unit.
