The Vivotek ND8401 Network Video Recorder is a 16-channel video recorder designed for recording applications and equipped with an Intel Dual-core Atom processor with maximum recording throughput at 96 Mb/s. It supports RAID 0 / 1 / 5 / 10 with 4 HDDs, with an external eSATA port for additional expansion. The recorder features a local display output port with full HD resolution (1920 x 1080), eliminating the need for a separate PC to view videos from the unit. Its setup wizard allows for easy setup of IP address, HDD to logical volumes, and basic camera configuration.
When connecting the ND8401 to more than one of the same Vivotek camera models, the ‘Shepherd’ program of this NVR duplicates the configuration to multiple cameras. Vivotek’s professional software - VAST is installed in this NVR with performance tuning, allowing for simple and effective management of a surveillance system using the LiveClient and Playback programs. This software also allows the user to utilize technologies like Activity Adaptive Recording in order to conserve bandwidth and optimize recording. A CMS server running the VAST software can also directly control the NVR. Its compatibility with the iViewer application allows for remote access to the NVR on handheld devices.
