- X-Mount Lens/APS-C Format
- 18mm (35mm Equivalent)
- Aperture Range: f/2.8 to f/22
- Two Aspherical Elements
Affording an especially broad, 18mm equivalent field of view, the FUJIFILM X-mount Touit 12mm f/2.8 from ZEISS is a prime wide-angle lens well-suited for landscape, architecture, and interior shooting. A sophisticated Distagon optical design includes two aspherical elements and three low dispersion elements, which help to control a variety of aberrations, distortion, and color fringing in order to produce sharp, well-corrected imagery. A floating elements system is used, too, to maintain consistent image quality throughout the focusing range. Individual elements also receive a ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating to suppress flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions. Additionally, suiting both photo and video use, this lens incorporates a DC autofocus motor to deliver especially fast, quiet, and precise focusing performance.

Can this lens take advantage of the new 40 mp on the XT5?
The ZEISS Touit 12mm f/2.8 Lens for FUJIFILM X should have no issues handling the full 40 MP on the Fujifilm X-T5.

question
With the lack of focus marking points on this lens, is there a focus distance indicator on the XE-1 and XE-2? Primarily concerned about being able to manual focus and use infinity focus for night shots.
Now there is, due to updates to the lens on the Zeiss website. You can update the lens and acquire this as well as faster autofocus and PDAF recognition for newer bodies.

question
I love using this lens, but I prefer to keep the sunshade attached, which makes it awkward to remove and attach the supplied lens cap. Is there a lens cap that will fit over the sunshade while it is attached to the lens? Thanks.
I know what you talking about. That is what i do with my Tamron 24-70/2.8. I bought a solid metal lens hood on eBay, then use a bigger cap on the larger OD.But for this lens, the glass is small and it does not stick out far. So I just bought a finger-squeeze type lens cap on eBay, it works fine.

question
How well would this lens be expected to perform for shooting the milky way? I am currently shooting with the kit 18-35mm lens and am looking to take get better image quality when shooting at night than i can achieve with the kit lense. Is there a compatible Nex7 lens that would be recommended before this one? I don't mind if it would require an adapter, just looking for a good night photography lens with a reasonable price.
In this focal range and price range I would say this is the best you could opt for to give you improved image quality over your 18-35mm kit lens. Sony offers a 16mm f2.8 lens but it would not give you the same field of view as this lens would, and the optical quality of this Zeiss lens is much greater than the Sony 16mm option.

question
Will this lens work on the new FF Sony E-mount cameras?
The Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount) can be used on the full frame Sony E mount cameras, though the cameras will crop down to an APS-C size sensor mode. This lens is not designed to cover a full frame sensor.
