The Link Electronics HD SD Closed Caption Decoder with GPI Timed Relay Detection inserts embedded closed captions into HD SD SDI transport streams and transfers it to the LCD monitor for display of active video. Since there is no loss or format change at the output, it eliminates the need for upscaling and format conversion. The Decoder is used with CEA-708-B based (DTVCC) service 1, service 2 data streams, and Active Format Description (AFD) coded signals.
With minimum time lag between the inputs (closed captions) and outputs (open captions), the Active Format Description (AFD) signals and extended data service (XDS) packets are decoded and displayed on the front panel 40 character (2-line) LCD display. This decoder has a GPI connector with dry contact relay for timed (30 seconds to 10 minutes in 30 second steps) closed caption presence detection. The navigation switch selects the XDS data fields that are to be displayed and also offers easy access to setup menus.
A network interface (NIC) offers remote control and status monitoring over Ethernet using a virtual communications port (VCP) interface. The VCP interface receives and sends signals to control the decoder's operation. In case of a power outage, the input data stream is unchanged and transferred to the output, allowing continuous and uninterrupted data flow.
