The Optimized Cardioid Triangle Surround Set by Schoeps includes two CCM 41 compact supercardioid microphones, three CCM 4 cardioid compact microphones, two MAB 1000 mounting bars, one CB-MAB mounting bracket for OCT surround, and a wooden box for the compact microphones. It features an approach using directional microphone set apart at up to 1 meter, giving good separation between the front sectors L/C and R/C. It also offers good localization and a large listening area with a natural-sounding overall impression.

The OCT front system uses two cardioids which face rearward to avoid picking up direct sound. Time of arrival and level differences between each side's cardioid and supercardioid pair, produce a stereophonic representation of sounds, and complement the front stereo image. Reflections which effect the perception of the room are reproduced correctly. In playback, the sweet spot is large, allowing listeners to move around without the stereo image collapsing. OCT Surround is a well-proven microphone setup, for discrete 5-channel surround recording. Five mounting clamps and five LEMO to XLR-3M output adapter cables are also included.

  • CCM41 LG Supercardioid Compact Microphone

The Schoeps CCM41 LG is a miniature supercardioid microphone with detachable cable. The design is a direct result of the demand for a compact capsule with the pick up of a shotgun microphone.

Off-axis sound is attenuated more effectively than that of a traditional cardioid polar pattern, and its frequency response is well suited for natural reproduction of vocals and instruments. The CCM 41 has slightly more roll-off at the low end due to the gradient effect, and is well suited as a "spot" microphone for orchestras, choirs, ambiance and more.

Supercardioid with highly consistent directionality throughout its frequency range
Ideally suited for music and speech
High directivity, comparable to that of a short "shotgun" microphone up through midrange frequencies
Often preferred for use in film sound recording and as a spot microphone in orchestras
  • CCM4 LG Cardioid Compact Microphone

The Schoeps CCM4 is a miniature cardioid microphone with detachable cable. The radial design is a direct result of the demand for a cardioid capsule where the maximum pick up occurs on the side as opposed to the front (top) of the capsule.

The acoustically transparent housing is particularly effective in reducing high frequency signal energy at the off-axis sections of the capsule, a common problem among standard cardioid elements. The linear frequency response features a slight rise at 10kHz, which enhances presence and intelligibility. The cardioid lateral pick up and high frequency response characteristics render the CCM4 more than viable for speech, general instrument capturing, mono and stereo ambiance capturing.

    Radial Pick-up Design
Lateral cardioid pick up pattern is the result of a design that enables the maximum pick up response to occur on the side of the capsule.
    Detachable K5 LU Cable
This version of the CCM4 features a detachable cable allowing easier microphone interchanging and placement.
    Off-Axis High Frequency Rejection
The CCM4 provides exceptional high frequency rejection at the off-axis sections of the capsule.
    Wide Linear Frequency Response
The wide frequency response ensures accurate detail regardless of the source signal.
    High Frequency Rise
A slight rise in frequency response occurs at around 10kHz. The result is greater presence and intelligibility.
  • MAB 1000 A/B Stereo Mounting Bar

The MAB 1000 A/B Stereo Mounting Bar from Schoeps is ideal for mounting two or more microphones in A/B or ORTF positions. The simple design accommodates any mounting distance from 4-100cm with engraved markings every 2.5cm for easy installation.

Record in OCT surround when you add the CB-MAB supporting beam and a another MAB 1000 (sold separately)
  • CB-MAB Mounting Bracket for OCT Surround

The SCHOEPS Mikrofone CB-MAB Mounting Bracket for OCT Surround is designed to hold 2 MAB 1000 stereo bars at a variable distance of 5.1 to 18.5" (13 to 47cm).
