Microphone Madness MM-BSM Overview

The black MM-BSM-5 Micro Binaural Stereo Microphones from Microphone Madness are Omni- directional and are extremely small in size. Each microphone element is strategically mounted for maximum performance. Six feet of high quality shielded microphone cable exits the rear of each cartridge and are terminated into a gold plated 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo plug.

The microphones have a natural crisp sound, providing deep bass, smooth mid-range, and clean high-range with a typical frequency response of +/-2dB. The microphone can be easily plugged into any Minidisc, Dat or analog recorder that supplies a bias voltage of between 1.5 to 10VDC at the microphone input jack.

Well suited but not limited to Edirol R9, Kodak Zi8 HD pocket video camera, Olympus DS-40, Olympus LS-10, Tascam DR-01, Tascam DR-03, Tascam DR-07, Yamaha CX, Zoom H1, Zoom H2 and Zoom H4N recorders

Microphone Madness MM-BSM Reviews

Good pair of binaural clip ons

These sound amazing! They’re also quite small, about a quarter inch in diameter. Build quality is high, very high. My only complaints at the windscreens that come with it are a little loose, but, I haven’t had a problem in normal use. I’m testing alternate windscreens. And the cable routing could be a little easier, but again, that’s for me to work out. I’d be happier if it had a right angle jack, but you can’t have everything and I won’t deduct a star for me being persnickety.

question

What's the difference between those and the BSM-9 of the same brand. I'm looking to do binaural recording with Silicone Ears. I've the Roland CS-10EM, would that compare? I'm trying to find the best around this price range. Cheers.

The BSM-7 and BSM-9 are similar aside from the capsules used. The BSM-7 uses a Panasonic 61 series capsule. The specs and size differ slightly from the BSM-9. BSM-7 capsules are smaller in size and offer better specs in dynamic range and signal to noise ratio. Both are comparable to the Roland CS-10EM with similar listed specs.
