  • 1Description

Store and access up to 3TB of your files in a desktop computer, NAS device, or RAID array using the 3TB Desktop Everyday SATA III 3.5" Hard Drive from WD. 3TB will allow you to store movies, photos, music, documents, and much more. Compatible with computers running Windows and Mac OS, this hard drive connects to your system's 3.5" bay via the SATA III 6 Gb/s interface.

In terms of speed, this drive operates using WD's IntelliPower rotational speed. This means that rpm speed of the drive depends on the operations being performed. If the drive is performing mostly sequential reads and writes, its speed will be increased as compared to if it were performing mostly random mode operations. This 3TB drive also features a 64MB cache to help ensure uninterrupted data transfers. Included with this hard drive are mounting screws.

    WD WDBH2D0030HNC-NRSN reviews

3TB Desktop Everyday SATA III 3.5" Hard Drive is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Using as NAS storage I bought 2 of these drives for use in a Seagate STCT100 2-bay NAS enclosure, running SimplyRAID (Seagate's modified version of RAID 1). Prior to installation I disabled the Intellipark/Idle3 feature using the wdidle3.exe app from WD, setting the timer to 300 seconds. As far as I can tell these drives do not support TLER. The drives have been running continuously for about a week at temperatures ranging from 38-45C, with no problems. No formal throughput testing yet, but the drives have been able to stream 1080 over WiFi (n and ac) without problems. Noise isn't much louder that the enclosures cooling fan which is already pretty quiet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect once you disable head auto-park Bought this drive to be used in an external eSATA enclosure as a backup/data drive. The main issue with the WD Green drives is that they auto-park the drive heads every 8 seconds to save power. But, especially if you use Linux, at every disk access (Linux nudges each disk every 30 sec) the heads will need to be un-parked - and after a certain number of park-unpark cycles, the drive fails. In order to increase the time interval after which the heads are parked..... It's recommended to not disable the head-parkig completely - just set-it to a reasonably high value. Remember to power off the drive after changing this setting.Other than that it's a nice, quiet & cold-running drive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WD Blue Drives Are The Best I am a long time buyer of Western Digital Blue drives. They run cooler than the Green drives, and are very reliable. I am still using WD Blue drives that are over 15 years old. An added benefit to buying a Western Digital drive is that you can get the Acronis TrueImage WD Edition backup software off Western Digital's website. The program also provides tools to configure 3TB, or larger, drives for your 64-bit computer. If you want a drive that does not overheat and runs like a Trane, buy the WD Blue hard drive. My experience with the Green versions are they overheat and fail, compared to WD Blue and Black versions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Massive Storage and Whisper Quiet I bought two of these HDD's. One to replace my existing HDD and one to act as a removable backup. For such a large capacity, I am pleasantly surprised how quite the drives are when transferring data. I was a bit afraid of heat buildup on the drive I use in a removable caddy. But, again I was surprised as to how cool it runs even under full load. So far, I can't find a single fault with these HDD's. WD rules as always.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from WD silent and powerful I use this drive to back up my master drive on my edit bay. Works great as a secondary source that I can leave at another location in case the worst were to happen. Performance is reliable, however it you intend to transfer an entire 3TB allow for several hours. This is the best bang for the buck out there!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I generally buy WD drives since they have proven themselves I purchase this to replace a failed drive in a RAID enclosure I have. Worked without any problem with the older WD drive in the enclosure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price. Needed to upgrade one of the drives in my NAS and this filled the bill with the size and price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WD 3 TB Hard Drive Inserted the drive into a Drobo and it works trouble free.
