The MFR-3216 Multiformat Routing Switcher by For-A is a crosspoint switcher, which supports SD/HD/3G-SDI and ASI signals. The MFR-3216 comes with 32 x inputs and 16 x outputs, and is designed for small and medium-scale routing systems. It accepts multiple input formats concurrently, while switching signals from any input to any output. It automatically recognizes the input signal and configures the output port. The MFR-3216 can be controlled manually by optional FOR-A Remote Panels.
The MFR-3216 features a web based control interface for set up and control of its video routing functions via the built-in Ethernet port. The unit also supports Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
Incorporating a loop through reference in/out connector pair for facility timing sync, it can operate as a single unit, or it can be integrated into a larger system to fit your needs. The unit is capable of taking an optional redundant power supply, and accepting an available redundant CPU option, which allows the unit to communicate with For.A RS-RU S series remote controls.
Multi-Format Routing Switcher with Auto Signal Detection
The MFR-3216 routes SDI and ASI signals from any one of its sixteen inputs to any one of its sixteen outputs. The MFR-1616 supports and automatically recognizes multiple formats of 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, SDI and ASI for input and output, limiting the need for operator intervention.
Multiple formats can be handled by the MFR-3216 at the same time, and then sent to multiple outputs. For example 1080/29.97p can be routed from one input to multiple outputs, while on another input 720/25p can be routed to one or more outputs. The unit can be programmed with additional switching function which can be operated by an optional remote. Some of these functions include:

Main Unit Storage Type - Presets can be stored on the main unit side and shared by all remotes.
Button Assigning Type - Presets can be programmed on connected remotes
Link Function: This can group and link multiple crosspoints.
Chop Function: Allows user to alternate between two input channels by pressing and holding one source button, and pressing and releasing another source button.
Crosspoint Inhibit: Programmable inhibits, to prevent selected inputs from feeding selected outputs. For example it can be used to prevent one broadcaster's feed from being transmitted over another broadcaster's output.
Monitor Out Output: Enables output of any output source to a dedicated monitoring channel.
Web Browser Interface: The MFR-3216 can be configured and operated from a computer via the built-in web browser connected through the RJ-45 PC-LAN port
SNMP: It supports Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) allowing the end user to monitor the unit over a computer network for conditions such as crosspoint errors, SDI signal input / output, power source, CPU, or fan status.
RS-232 The unit can be controlled by an external computer or device using RS-232 control protocols via the Serial port.
Remote Control Units Optional remote control units can configure and control the MFR-1616 when connected to the MFR-LAN port.
