Rated 3 out of 5 by from overall nice, comes apart easily Overall, this is a good value for an internal cable pole. YOu have to be careful in your movements about letting the cable hit the sides of the boom. It seems really well constructed, but is designed to make it easy to unscrew the locks too far. For an individual owner this shouldn't be an issue, but in a school or rental environment where you have many different users you're always going to have that one guy that loosens everything all the way, and thus loses the bushing or whatever is on the inside that causes the section to lock in place when tightened. Then you have a piece that your'e not going to be able to find at a hardware store, and the whole thing becomes useless. YOu can gaffer tape the section locked, but that's hardly optimal.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad for the $ I thought that the aluminum would be much heavier, as I usually use a carbon fiber pole, but it's surprisingly light. The only issue that I have with it so far is that when it's fully extended I get a lot of noise from the coiled cord knocking around inside the shaft. That's going to be an issue at some point.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good if you get it on sale I got this on a recent deal and did like the fact it had a 3 year warranty and had the internal coiled cable. For the money I thought I would try it out. I find that the coiled cable makes it a bit difficult to actually extend the pole without it snapping back . The video online makes it look easy but I found it to be a pain. You really do need two hands .. one to hold the section from snapping back and the other to tighten the collar. I would also recommend a side exit connection for the xlr rather than this end mount version. You are likely to put this on the ground at the end and you run the risk of damaging the audio connection. Frankly I prefer the E Image poles I bought .. They have a slot if you want to put in your own cable internally or simply wrap the audio cable around the outside. I might suggest a K Tec but those are a bit pricey especially if you only need a boom pole sporadically. But to each his/her own.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from la pareja perfecta para NTG2 / a perfect match for NTG2 Junto al Rde NTG2 hacen la pareja perfecta. Es compacto es ligero y su precio es justo respecto a la calidad. Para producciones no muy grandes es la mejor alternativa en cuanto portabilidad y durabilidad. Next to the Rode NTG2 they make the perfect couple. It is compact is light and the price is right with regard to quality. For not very large productions is the best alternative in portability and durability.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Watch out The cord is not attached right. Because we are handy I was able to do a little repair work on it before the frist shoot. I know it will have to be replaced soon. It did not have a soft grip. So new boom ops need to be extra extra careful.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DOESN'T WORK The XLR inside that the boom polecame with is trash! I can't even use it because it has a horrible hiss that overpowers all sounds. Wish I knew, I would have just gotten the one without the XLR running through it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very satisfied with this purchase I use it for video journalism/documentary filmmaking. There are better options, of course, but this one is just about what I need right now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but not great. I bought this pole as we didn't have one and I know it was going to be a necessity. The internal lead was a bonus. I did a bit of research but it seemed like a good first boom. Its light-weight, long and rigid. However, just loosening the turning clasps on the telescopic sections does not release the sections; as they are spring loaded to contract. Not knowing this my boom fell apart in my hands from over-loosening the moment I tried to extend it. There is lubricant all over each of the screw joints, so be aware of that. Also its unclear which way you turn which section, and which section will release based on what you;re turning. I guess it'll come easier in time. I didn't get any cable movement during our test recordings, but any touching of the pole (or change in grip, minor movement, rubbing, etc) is hugely amplified into the recording. This is especially challenging as there is no padding on the boom pole itself. The product works great, I think we'll need to get some padded gloves or after market padding to make it viable in the field through. Also would be great if it came with the option of a padded bag. But - since I bought it on special, I'm still pretty stoked with the purchase.
