What would you recommend coiled or straight cable?
Asked by: Alex
Hi Alex, thank you for reaching out. The KE110 (uncabled) or better the KE110CC (coiled cabled) which you inquired about is available only with a coiled cable. A straight cable option can only be applied to the KE110 (uncabled version) by wrapping a cable around the outside of the pole. If the straight cable is wrapped outside of the pole, that can work well. But it is a tad cumbersome when the boom length needs to be changed (extend or collaps a bit). Then the wrapping of the cable has to be adjusted. If a straight cable inside the pole is wanted (higher end poles call that a "Flow-Thru" cable), then the bottom of the pole needs to be modified (not done by K-Tek though). Flow thru has the advantage of being able to use it in water situations (in a pool etc.). The dis-advantage is that the cable management is in your hand at the bottom of the pole. Coiled cable internally is a great feature, no real cable management necessary. The dis-advantage, to use it in a pool for example is not suggested, since the connectors might become a problem rather fast. I hope this helps. Again thank you for reaching out. Happy recordings! Your friends @ K-Tek
