Its aspherical lens elements reduce spherical aberrations and the Quick-Shift Focus System allows instant switching from autofocus to manual focus operation.
The SMCP-DA 55-300mm f/4-5.8 ED lens is extremely compact in relation to its powerful zoom capability which is equivalent to a 82.5-450mm lens in the 35mm format. ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements reduce aberrations and Super-Multi-Coating provides even light transmission, sharp definition, and high contrast, while minimizing flare and ghost imaging. A Super-Protective coating applied to the front surface of the lens offers excellent water and oil resistance.
