Would this windcover fit for a Sony ECM-XM1 microphone, approx 6 1/ 2 in in lenght. Should I go for the 6" or 7" windcover then?
Yes it would be a good choice. The 7" is to large you only need to cover the ports.

Is there a layer of foam inside this softie? And if so, what kind of foam is in there?
For this wind cover there is no foam inside it.
The SWJ8-21-10 version has a foam insert inside the wind cover (10" length and 21mm diameter).

My microphone, Sony ECM-MS2 has a 24mm diameter. Does this windcover which is for 23mm stretch to fit or will it be necessary to get the 25mm version, which will probably be a loose fit?
The Cavision SWJ223 should be fine for the Sony ECM-MS2; a tight fit most likely given the 1mm difference. FYI, this is a special order item however, and is non-cancelable and non-returnable.
