Matthews 388210 Reviews
Load limit is 10-15 Pounds
I purchased this to use for a Profoto light with modifier on the end of a boom arm. In the Q&A section a Matthews Rep suggested the maximum load was 15 pounds. I hung a Profoto D2 with no modifier on the Magic Finger pin - the weight was 7.6 pounds. I had to reef on the handle to keep it from tipping down - even before added any light modifiers. Matthews customers service was quick to respond and asked me to return it. They showed me a photo of a test in their shop with what looked like two 5 pound sand bags hanging off the end of the Magic Finger clamped in a vice. What if the load was more like the recommended 15 pounds or if it were cantilevered out like it would be with say a large umbrella or a beauty dish? The replacement Magic finger worked much better but I limit to load to say a Pro-B head or a B10 head with a simple modifier. Very versatile for light loads but I stay well below 8 pounds. I'm sure it would be great for flags and cutters as others have said.
Wonderful piece of gear for the studio!!
If you've ever struggled with mounting a light and getting exactly the angle you want, this item will make you smile! It is basically a ball head with a 5/8 standard pin that gives you the capability to easily adjust lights to exactly the right place with hassle. And you can also buy this device mounted to a gobo arm if desired. Highly recommend!
