    HighPoint RR640L reviews

RocketRAID 640L SATA III PCIe 2.0 x4 Host Bus Adapter is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A data computer within your computer This card has it's own bios that boots when you boot the computer. I have 2 sets of HDD's configured as RAID 1 (mirrored). Great for secure storage. If the computer fails, it should not affect the data. If you blow a HDD, you can replace it and the array will rebuild itself. You can take the entire assembly and move it to another computer without data loss. It integrates itself for drive configuration as if it were plugged into the SATA bus. One caution....Make sure you purchase RocketRAID and not just a RAID card. The RAID card doesn't have the spin down function.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 3 out of 4 rr640l cards failed + ignorant support Bought qty2. After a year, 1 failed. Bought a third as a spare whilst getting RMA. 3rd card arrived DOA. TechSppt on first failed card was ignorant (they told me that they couldn't duplicate my problem even before i had shipped them my bad card, and they insisted that this was good troubleshooting practice) and rude. Finally got replacement card, it is fine after 24h so far. Then, about 12h ago, the 2nd of original card failed in a different system. This is a defective design or qc, and highpoint is either unwilling to recognize it or incapable of doing so. I have bought 12 to 15 rr cards over the last 10 to 15 years.....no issues until this model. But the support experience was so bad and took so much of my time that I am done with rr cards completely.
