I purchased this x mount recently but can not get the shutter to release on my Fujifilm X-T2! I have set everything to manual including front camera dial setting to M and checked all menus to set from AF to manual what am I missing? Appreciate any help from someone who may have experienced same issue, thanks!
Please see in menu the option to Release shutter without lens and turn on. This will activate the shutter.

What is the iris control all about?
Canon EF lenses don't have a manual aperture ring so when you use an adapter to mount them onto other camera bodies you need a way to control the aperture (or iris) so you need this type of adapter.
