would a go pro be too light for this ? I'm shooting on a 7D as well and i'd like to be able to use both
As is, it probably would be too light to operate effectively since stabilizers are all about balance. However, since I have seen professional Steadicam operators add weight to the camera to help get the springs in the arm to perform in their sweet spot, you might consider adding weight to the camera end of this rig. That could balance with the bottom weight. That might work.
