Shure VP83F reviews

VP83F LensHopper Shotgun Mic with Fur Windjammer Windscreen Kit is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent shotgun mike for amateur usage I got this microphone for a Sony AX-53 camcorder + Canon 5D MK3 and I'm very satisfied with it. I film mainly smaller concerts, interviews and documentaries. For interviews this microphone is a big help. Of course it's not the right mic for recording music, but whenever you need a directional microphone the Shure Lenshopper is a good choice in this price range. I got the one with flash recorder because the camcorder and camera input does not record in such a nice quality. I like this microphone and use it for portable recordings often together with a Zoom H5. Thumbs up!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent acquisition! I've received the product couple days ago and the first impression was the best it could be. First class build quality, very friendly operation menu. I've already used it to record some interviews in noisy environments and the sound was crystal clear. Everything has been doing well. I still haven't tested recording in windy conditions to check if the windjammer will really do its job. I only have a concern with the operation joystick because I feel it a bit fragile. The same for the battery compartment cover. Hope to be just a wrong impression. As a suggestion to the manufacturer, it might have a wireless connection to be operated remotely by a smartphone of even a wireless remote control which could be replaced in case of fail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best DSLR Audio Purchase to Date I have owned and used Shure products for many years, mostly in live sound and recording. Bought this with confidence based on those experiences. I used it yesterday for the first time for on-location interviews in a SportsPlex with lots of background noise and was very pleased with its performance. Like all DSLR videographers, I'm caught up in the never ending search for a more efficient method to capturing professional quality audio in a lightweight package. This ended my search. Outside of the quality of the audio, the feature I enjoyed most was the gain sent to the camera allowing for recording directly to the camera and not through an external recorded. For the first time, I was able to monitor audio in the camera (5D Mark III) with ease. Amen! If you're looking for a single channel audio solution that allows for in-device recording as a backup AND direct recording to the camera, -----------:Square 10' X 12' room. Concrete cinder block walls, carpet floor, 40db ambient noise from kids outside room playing dodge ball, AC noise. Interviewer was 8' from interviewee. Mic was on a boom pole 1' above interviewee. Audio recorded directly into camera. Mic level set to 30. No post processing of audio.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great quality, not the best controls. In a pinch for a decent mic for all-around rund-and-gun shooting I went with the VP38F LensHopper. This is a great microphone with great sound. Perhaps a $ full-size shotgun would get you better audio, but in my testing, this can't be beat at the price. Nice, slightly warm audio. No hiss on either the card or the line out.I was unsure of how high a quality sound I would get from a 'baby' shotgun mic, but I am impressed! However, I am not sold on the controls. The thumb toggle is a bit cumbersome in fast-paced video shoots and I had a hard time getting the audio level just right by finding a balence between what I heard in the headphones and what was actually being recorded at what ever dB I set. I wish the audio meter was easier to see to avoid peaking (I was taking video of a steam train and the bells and whistles were hard to adjust for.Other than that, a fantastic mic for the price. I am VERY happy with my purchase and this microphone will be a part of my kit for years!
