The Sony GP-VPT1 Shooting Grip with Mini Tripod provides one-handed operation of your multi-terminal equipped Sony camcorder or camera. It can also fold out into a mini tripod for hands-free use. The GP-VPT1 features a pan handle with wired remote control, adjustable grip angle, and zoom, photo, and start/stop record buttons. A hand strap, cable clamper, and carrying pouch come included.

Your camera mounts to the shooting grip via a 1/4"-20 screw. The wired AV cable uses Sony's Multi Terminal connector, which plugs in to the corresponding port on compatible camcorders/cameras and lets you control zoom, take photos, and start/stop recording using the buttons found on the grip. Using the cable clamper keeps the cable out of the way while recording. The grip angle is adjustable in increments of approximately 10 degrees by pressing the angle adjust button on the side of the grip. This allows you to find the angle that is comfortable for you.

For added convenience, two legs fold out from the shooting grip to turn the GP-VPT1 into a mini tripod, letting you set it on a tabletop for hands-free shooting.

GP-VPT1 Shooting Grip with Mini Tripod is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Essential Sony Handgrip I've used this on my Sony RX10 Mark II and the Sony FDR-AX53 camcorder by plugging into the multi port. First and foremost it allows one-handed support that is much more comfortable to hold. I am getting much smoother gimbal-like moves using this handgrip when I shoot video. The handgrip is adjustable from vertical to angled. The buttons are easily identifiable by touch, easy to use. Being able to start and stop video or shoot a still with the same hand as you are holding the grip is a HUGE bonus to me. The zoom control is very useful. I can work much faster with this handgrip!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very useful accessory I use this with my RX100 II when shooting video particularly at concerts where I have to hold the camera above my head to capture a band or performer. Its a bit pricy for what it does as you can find other grips that will do the same thing for a 10th the price. However the zoom control and being able to use is as a mini tripod do add to its functionality. I dont regret spending the extra $s. My biggest complaint is the for the cost its made of plastic and thus feels a bit cheap, however it does reduce the weight and thats certainly an advantage when holding the camera over your head for minutes at a time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall, good We just bought our third one to use with our FDR-AX100. We've used the previous model (with the D-shaped connector) for years on our CX560's so as to have a pistol grip when shooting handheld. After awhile, the pivot point (where you push the button to adjust the angle) begins to loosen. Not a huge deal unless you are walking and shooting at the same time. One sort of weird thing is several times cops, at first glance from a distance, thought the setup could have been a gun. Overall, this is a very useful device

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great accessory for my camcorder I use it with my SONY camcorder. It is much more comfortable to support and operate my camcorder with the Shooting Grip than with the standard hand-through-strap arrangement. I just completed a nature-focused trip. The grip worked well. I was able to store the camera with the grip attached to the camcorder in my fanny pack - so it was always readily available. My camcorder has a built-in projector. I could not find any high flat surfaces that were opposite bare walls, so I did not get to use the tripod for projecting. But holding the camcorder on the grip worked well for projecting videos on walls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GP-VPT1 shooting grip by Sony I use this with my Sony RX100MK3-And to think I nearly missed buying this!! I went to B&H to get another camera bag and was asked if I wanted to see this item.I was not keen, because I had a Gorillopod and did not really need another tripod for my Sony RX100MK.But when I saw this I was beguiled!! It is an absolute game changer for doing Video with the RX100 cameras!!It attaches to the tripod screw on the camera and connects by attached cable to the port on the right. Then PRESTO!-one can shoot video (and Stills!) at the press of a button on the handle, all whilst holding the camera in a fantastically ergonomic grip.It MUST be seen to be appreciated!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GP-VPT1 Sony Video Camera Grip The GP-VPT1 Sony Video Camera Grip is ready to use in seconds. Simply secure the camera to the grip, plug the connecting cord into the camera, and start taking great videos or stills. Everything is done merely by a thumb-touch: video on/off, telephoto, shutter. The pistol grip is comfortable. And the mini trip-pod in the handle opens quickly. I got my grip one day, and used the trip-pod to video a parade at Disneyland the next day. Much better than holding the camera for 30 minutes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works with SONY HDR-PJ790V camcorder Very handy to have! You can adjust where the camcorder sits on the grip to balance it properly, and the buttons for recording, zooming in and out, and for taking a photo are easily accessible. It really does give you better videos because it offers better stability for the camcorder. The only thing that takes some getting used to is the zoom controlyou have to barely push on it for it to zoom slowly; a VERY light touch. You can easily zip in or out at an overly fast speed of you aren't careful. Also, be aware that with this grip attached, when you're not using the camcorder, you pretty much have to hold it, or have a suitable bag to drop it in. I haven't found a strap that will work along with the handle sticking out from under the unit. Overall though, I am very pleased with it and I am happy with its performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GOOD VALUE Works perfectly with my camera. It's much easier to use than reaching over and around to access zoom and record buttons. I also feel that it allows for a steadier operation than the normal handheld.
