The Teradek Link offers broadcasters a whole new workflow for transmitting live HD video back to the station without worrying about cellular dead zones. As a bonded V-mount cellular hotspot, Link can easily be placed in locations with optimal signal reception so camera crews can roam freely up to 300' (91.4m) away for long periods of time without concern for poor signal strength or short battery life. This freedom is achieved by connecting one or more Teradek encoders to Link’s a/b/g/n WiFi network. After receiving audio and video from the encoder, Link intelligently broadcasts the feed over up to 6 aggregated 3G/4G cellular connections to a Sputnik server in the cloud or at your station. From Sputnik, your video feed is then sent to your Teradek or IPTV decoder.
Link is capable of using features of the Cube and Brik encoders while streaming, such as monitoring on iOS devices, on-board proxy recording, and seamless external battery swapping. Additionally, Link provides dual Ethernet jacks for hardline reliability and supports connections from any 802.11 enabled device, which means you can check your email or upload files over Link's Internet connection while streaming your video content.
With a Zixi-licensed Cube or Brik encoder, camera crew can stream wirelessly to an Ethernet-connected Link and then to Zixi's cloud services for highly reliable, broadcast-quality video over volatile networks. Link also features a V-mount adapter on the bottom so it can be powered by a battery.
Note: V-mount adapter included; battery sold separately.
Link takes a different approach to video transmission. Instead of carrying cellular modems on your rig, Link is designed to operate similarly to a mobile hotspot. Simply place Link at a location with optimal signal strength, connect your Cube or Brik to Link's dual-band MIMO WiFi network, and go live at up to 300' away over up to 6 bonded network connections.
Directly to the Web or Back to the Station
The Teradek Link can transmit to just about any platform, including various MPEG-TS decoders or a CDN of your choice. Link is also compatible with Zixi-licensed Brik and Cube encoders, giving broadcast professionals access to a robust, cloud-based transport platform during challenging network conditions.
Portable and Long Lasting
Link's small size and low power consumption allows for easy placement and long run times when paired with a V-Mount plate and battery. If you need to swap power sources mid-broadcast, Link's rechargeable Li-ion battery lets you exchange external batteries without interrupting your live video feed.
V-mount adapter included; battery sold separately.
Not only does Link accept video feeds from Teradek encoders, it also supports connections from other 802.11 enabled devices for Internet access. This feature enables broadcasters to quickly publish edited multi-camera content via Link's FTP capabilities over unbonded cellular bandwidth.
Cellular aggregation used for 802.11 enabled encoders only.
Adaptive Bit Rate Streaming
Link features Teradek's Adaptive Bit Rate Streaming (ABRS) technology, which dynamically adjusts the video bit rate and buffer of your stream in real time to adapt to varying network conditions. ABRS ensures that your content is delivered reliably and at high quality.
Adaptive Frame Rate Streaming
Link's Adaptive Frame Rate Streaming feature was designed to ensure that your live video reaches its destination. If cellular service at your location suddenly drops to levels that are too slow to transmit an HD quality video, the AFRS feature will begin to drop the frame rate until your content reaches its destination intact. This feature is suitable for breaking news coverage where successful video transmission is imperative.
Sputnik is Teradek's software interface between Link and your streaming destination. Sputnik is designed to run on a Linux computer either in the cloud (using Amazon's EC2 services) or on a local server with a single, publicly addressable TCP port. Sputnik recombines the various video feeds from Link into a cohesive stream that can then be sent to an H.264 decoder or played back online.
Sputnik is a free software application for recombining Link video streams.
Stream Directly to Influxis
Streaming over multiple cellular networks directly to the Internet just got easier with Influxis' native integration of Teradek's Sputnik aggregation software. Instead of streaming to a Linux server in the cloud or back at the station, you can now transmit and display your live video feed directly on Influxis' servers for a seamless broadcast experience.
The Teradek Dashboard is a Web GUI for monitoring the performance of your Link system. Dashboard displays the bit rate and latency per modem, total data usage, modem status, buffer length, and many other statistics to help you keep track of your streaming performance in real time.
