Zacuto Z-DER overview

  • 1Description

The Zacuto Enforcer Foldable Camera Rig provides stable camera support for run-and-gun, gorilla-style shooting with DSLR cameras or small camcorders. The Enforcer was designed to offer the same type of support as Zacuto's Target Shooter model but in an all-in-one, fold-away design. The Enforcer features a gunstock with rubber pad and Zacuto Gorilla Plate V2 on an adjustable support arm for attaching your camera to the rig. It folds up in a matter of seconds and when folded, is small enough to fit into a carry on, camera bag, backpack, purse, or even your cargo pants pocket.

Adjustable Camera Support Arm
The camera support arm has a vertical or forward position, controlled by a single red push lever. Use the vertical position when attaching a Zacuto Z-Finder to your camera's LCD screen. This keeps the camera at eye level. For use without a Z-Finder, push the arm forward for comfortable viewing of your camera's LCD screen.
Gunstock with Angle Adjustment
The gunstock is pressed against your shoulder to offer better shot stability. It has a rubber pad for added comfort and offers 45 degrees of continuous adjustment. Use the included 5/32" Allen key to loosen the two screws and adjust the angle of the gunstock for a more personalized fit.
Foldable Design
The Enforcer folds up in a matter of seconds. Once your camera is quick-released from the rig, simply release the red push lever to snap the camera support arm down, and then push down on the silver circular cap to lift up and swing closed the gunstock.
Zacuto Gorilla Plate V2
The Zacuto Gorilla Plate V2 serves as the camera mounting platform for the Enforcer. The camera attaches to the plate via a single 1/4"-20 captive screw and can be quick-released off of the rig by using the spring-loaded ratcheting lever on the side of the plate. The plate can be attached at two different points, for use with the camera arm in a vertical position, or pushed forward to give you a better for view your camera's LCD screen.

    Zacuto Z-DER reviews

Enforcer Foldable Camera Rig is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely Versatile I travel worldwide with about a 8-10 Kg carry on weight limit. In many places if you check your gear, it will get lost. The Enforcer lets me steady lighter cameras, which means I can reduce the weight of all my gear, thus letting me get everything into carry on. It also fits everywhere. And it attracts much less attention on the street compared to other supports. The shoulder piece is a bit short for my size, but i can wrap T-shirts around it if I need. Because it has so many positions, I found I can use it for many different kinds of support. This, plus a small, but strong, table-top tripod let me do almost anything I could with a larger kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great piece of kit for run and gun These look bigger in the pictures but smaller when you get it surprisingly. This is a good thing. I use it for my Canon 1DX Mark II. I decided on this instead of the Marauder because I don't want to stand out when I'm filming run and gun. While it's light in weight, it will get heavy fast when you're using it with a camera. You just have to get used to using it. I wish they would make it in carbon fiber. Because I use a 1DXII and the touch AF in video, I'm not using an EVF so my setup is farther away from my body. Definitely the fatigue kicks in faster in this setup.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overpriced but still a great piece This piece of equipment is a great addition to my gear because it helps stabilize shots and hold a camera up for longer when recording on the fly.The cons for this piece are as follows-expect to buy a z-finder if you don't already own one and here's why- when this thing is fully extended it can and will get tiring pretty quickly. The weight isn't distributed to your body when holding it away from you so it's harder to hold it there for very long.-it is way expensive for the stability. I mean I can get a monopod for like 300 and this ran me about 450.The pros-it looks sweet-when used with a z-finder it is an incredible video toolIn a nutshell-it's worth the money if you're looking for a tax write off-use it with a z-finderSidenotesThis is not a photography tool. It doesn't work really well for that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works great Use it with my Canon XA20. Much more stable footage by using it in the first folded out position and using a rifle like pose. Able to use the viewfinder perfectly. Built well, looks less menacing than a few of the alternatives out there so using it around the airport fence doesn't make you look like you are about to shoot a shoulder launched missle at an aircraft. 5 stars would have been reached if the price was a hundred less.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from slick design, portable and effective +CNC'd aluminum design +adjustable gun stock depending on body type +folds up quite small and flat and will fit in many camera bag slots, back of my jeans pocket, or other small spaces +works excellently with Z-Finder/Gorilla dock (15mm quick release mount) +Zacuto= high quality, US made, great support, warranty/guarantee +grants steady shooting in a small package -Expensive

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nicely designed! I use the Enforcer with a Canon7D and a Z finder, shooting sports. With the added level of support it provides, I'm able to shoot steadier at every focal length with less fatigue. It folds up quickly, is nice and light, the only downside is the high price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enforcer I use the Enforcer to support my 200mm and Canon in the woods.Hiking in, gives shortage of breath to hold for shots. The Enforcer allows me that extra seconds for stillness with large lens to bring forward.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small, quick and effective Great little alternative to a bulky shoulder rig. Light weight and folds away to fit in the pocket of a backpack or camera bag. Pricey but adds a nice amount of stability for DSLR handheld shooting.
