Having trouble splitting multiple mic feeds to a MixPre 10 with some old old Hosa Y splitters all of a sudden. Thought about ordering pricier Y splitters for the 'assurance' but I got 3 of these Kopuls for less than the price of 1 of another brand with 'gold' contacts, etc. I appreciate a quality quad cable as much as the next sound person but all signals are coming through fine on these Kopuls. Good construction. No qualms. They aren't cheap, they're just affordable.

Is the length from the Y ? I am looking to put two mics on a single incoming line, 6 feet apart. Will this work?

The Kopul XLR Y Cable (XLR-M to Dual XLR-F) is 15" long overall. The manufacturer has not provided a distinction for length either before or after the split, but the Y-junction is approximately halfway down the cable's length.

If I combine two mics and plug into a tascam recorder single port, will I still be able to deliver phantom power to the two mic?
Asked by: Innocent
Connecting two condenser microphones to one mic preamp with the Kopul XLR Y Cable is not recommended. It may work, but it may also result in undervolting the mics, which will lead to undesirable results.

Can this be used with a dual wireless receiver like the Sennheiser XSW dual wireless system?
Asked by: Nathan
The Kopul XLR Y Cable (XLR-M to Dual XLR-F) could be used with a pair of wireless receivers, although all audio will be mixed to mono via the single XLR output connector.

question

How does one handle phantom power when splitting the signal into 2 inputs? Would you enable phantom power on both inputs or just one of the two to power a Sennheiser MKH 50? I would like to feed my boom dialog mic into 2 inputs on a Zoom H6, and run one input hot and the other about 10 db less for safety. I know the Zoom offers a back up file record, but it is only on the non phantom powered inputs.
Asked by: Ric
No, you cannot split the signal from a microphone before it is amplified. A microphone forms an integral circuit with the first amplifier it is connected to. After that it can be split. This cable is for splitting the output of sound board (which is an amplifier) to two separate audio inputs.

question

Can I use this to connect two 1/4 to XLR cables into one XLR on camera?
Asked by: Damian D.
No, you can use it as a output splitter, not an input combiner.
