The DRD-401 is equipped with eSATA, FireWire 400, two FireWire 800, and a USB 3.0 port, plus all necessary interface cables. With compatible devices, the dual FireWire 800 ports allow daisy-chaining, and the USB 3.0 port can attain maximum transfer rates of up to 5.0 Gbps.

Houses up to Four 3.5" SATA I/II/III Hard Disk Drives
The Xcellon DRD-401 Four-Bay RAID System houses up to four 3.5" SATA I/II/III hard disk drives, making it a great solution for large-data storage needs. It helps maintain a tidy workstation by consolidating your disks in a single enclosure instead of cluttering your desk with individual external drives.
Seven RAID Modes Configurable by DIP Switches or Software
Seven RAID modes, configurable by the DIP switches on the rear of the enclosure or via the included software, offer a variety of options for managing and backing up your data. Choose from RAID 0, 1, 3, 5, and 10, as well as Normal (JBOD), Span (Big/Large), and Clone modes, to handle striping, mirroring, redundancy, and parity.
Included Software for Advanced Operations
Included software helps you manage your RAID systems and installed hardware. View information about the current RAID mode and the hard disks installed in the enclosure, set multiple RAID modes in an enclosure, view and save event logs, update firmware, and configure RAID settings. The software is available for both Windows and Mac operating systems.
USB 3.0, eSATA, FireWire 800, and FireWire 400 ports
The DRD-401 is equipped with four ports for flexible connectivity. USB 3.0, eSATA, FireWire 400, and two FireWire 800 ports, plus the included high-speed connection cables, make it easy to connect the DRD-401 to most computers. The dual FireWire 800 ports also enable daisy-chaining with compatible devices.
Maximum Transfer Rates of up to 5.0 Gbps
When plugged into your computer's USB 3.0 port, the DRD-401 can attain transfer rates of up to 5.0 Gbps via the included USB 3.0 cable.
Aluminum Construction and Large Quiet Fan
The DRD-401 employs a dual-element cooling system to prevent overheating when working for long periods of time. The aluminum construction dissipates heat, while a single large fan cools the drives with maximum efficiency and minimum noise.
Hot Swapping
The DRD-401 allows hot swapping, so you won't have to shut down your computer every time you install a hard disk.
Front-Loading, Tray-Less Drive Bays
Installing your hard disks is easy. Instead of dismantling your computer, just pop the disk drives into the easily accessible, front-loading drive bays. The bays are tray-less, eliminating the need for drive carriers, screwdrivers, or other installation tools. When removing your disks from the enclosure, the bay doors prevent jams by automatically ejecting the disk as you open the door.
Locking Bay Doors
As an added security measure, the bay doors lock with the included hex key to prevent them from inadvertently opening.
LED Status Indicators
Each drive bay is furnished with a status LED to indicate when the corresponding disk drive is powered or reading and writing.
Integrated Chipset
The DRD-401 beeps continuously to let you know if one of your disks is damaged. As an extra security measure for your data backup, an integrated chipset can automatically rebuild your RAID mode 1, 3, 5, or 10 array when you replace the damaged disk with a new one.
Overcurrent and Short-Circuit Protection
The DRD-401's circuit design integrates overcurrent and short-circuit protection to help optimize data security and safeguard your drives against damage.
Intelligent Sleep Mode
The DRD-401 is programmed with an intelligent sleep mode to save energy and reduce wear and tear on your disk drives. If the data connection cable is unplugged or there's no read/write activity on the installed disk drives for five minutes, the DRD-401 will automatically enter sleep mode and the fan will power down.
